Did a little more break work and rebuilt the front master again. Took it for a test drive and she did much better. Front disks are badly warped, so I'm waiting for a new set in the mail. Much more successful trip around the block this time though.
Got the new rotors in from Hong Kong today. Couldn't believe it. I ordered them on evening if the the 10th, and they were here early this afternoon. China was the only place I could find non $400 nos rotors (still set me back $125). Got them mounted up and took er for a whirl. The brakes feel great now. 3rd times a charm eh Cory..
The bike was running a bit rich, and I couldn't seem to get it leaned out with adjusting the pilots... Until a buddy pointed out that they are fuel screws instead of air screws... Half a turn in from factory specs seem to be a good place to be. Probably going to ride it a bit more tomorrow. All seems to be good at this point.
Well, I put in close to 100 miles today. She ran pretty well all things considered. I'm having some idle issues, but some people that know way more than I do think it could have alot to do with the carbs needing synced. I did bench sync them, but I don't have any gauges. May have to wait till the thaw at this point. Also, I need to pull the front sprocket cover to chase down an oil leak. Guessing it's probably the counter shaft seal. Just little stuff at this point (I think)
It's turning out to be a riot of a little, well er big, bike to ride. It definitely has a pretty strong and wide power band. No real peak, just a strong pull all the way from 2,500 to 10,000.
I decided to track down the oil leak. Turns out it was the clutch push rod seal. Should be an easy enough fix right. HA . The seal had to be pushed out the back side, which means you have to pull this thing half apart, pull the water pump and a bunch of other garb. The counter shaft seal looked to be in good nick, but it's getting a fresh one anyways since it's apart. I would have just left it if it wasn't dripping directly on the exhaust lol
