2-Stroke Exhaust Question

Got lucky. The K100 guru's said I'd be fine to run premix.

I just need to block off any existing oil pump stuff... Though it would be neat to have some sort of creative can attached to the bike. Maybe the NEXT one I decide to build, I'll go that route :)

You realize that running premix will require carrying a bottle of oil with you right? And, some type of measuring device as the mix really needs to be pretty exact. Seems like more work than just mounting a tank and filling it before ya take off. ;)

get it running ;)
see what you think, It doesn't sound like you will be riding enough to empty a tank each time out
bonus of mixing is you can burn some sweet smelling maxima 927 :D

You are right, I won't be riding it far at all. Because it's so light and small, I might just throw it in the back of my truck when I want to take it somewhere and use my truck as homebase. Fuel, plugs, tools, etc. I'll at least be doing that for first few journeys with it.

Once my exhaust comes to me, I'll be getting it running asap. Got a carb rebuilt kit for it just to be on the safe side, fresh mixed gas and a bunch of new plugs. Need to try to build a stand or something for it so I can run it without having to go on the street. I don't have a good local test road near by... Would make doing plug chops a bit easier too!

You cant do a proper plug chop unless the engine is under load (actually functioning on the street).

Also... I want to state that I'm not trying to give you a hard time here if it seems that way. Just trying to get you to see that there is a right way and an "it'll work" way. The latter will often times cause more harm than good. You have a cool little bike. Would hate to see ya bust it up because ya skimped on the easy shit.

Ahh.. A plug chop wouldn't really work if I ran the car as if it were ran on a dyno? Big fan and banging through the gears in a stationary position? Was hoping that would work lol... Oh well, I might be able to sneak to a road nearby to do some test flies. Need to do the same thing on my quad.....

I understand you aren't giving me a hard time. This bike is VERY special purpose and I wasn't too fond on the idea of strapping a reservoir on the side of the bike. I really like that fact that there isn't much at all to it. It makes it that much more interesting! The idea with it is something unique and something that will turn heads or draw some attention. It'll look great parked downtown where I live. We have a really nice downtown area with some older flare to it, lots of people... Good stuff! It's a vision for sure.

A Dyno creates load by tensioning the rollers.

I get it man. Do what ya have to do. It's your bike obviously. As long as you're aware of the pitfalls, get to it.

Are the bearings lubricated from the oil pump? Sounds iffy.

no
it is a simple system with one oil nozzle feeding just at the carb spigot it will be fine with premix

Only two strokes I can think of that you can't run premix have the Suzuki CCI oil system like the T series. Others?

it is real easy to tell, if there is only one oil feed bung at the carb then it is premix friendly
the suzukis for sure have crank feeds and it is a really good system
but there is nothing wrong with premix on a bike that is premix friendly as long as you are not stupid enuf to try and run straight gas
mixing on the road is easy as well 2 stroke oil can be found at any gas station ,or carry a small bottle
32-1 4oz to the gallon is simple it does not have to be exact
as a side note mobil1 10-40 CAR oil works just fine in 2 strokes as a premix lube
and in a pinch ANY motor oil will get you home

HUGE Thank you to all of you guys who helped me out in this thread and directed me in the right paths.

I finally created a build thread for my bike. It's a long read, but sit back, read it (or look at all the pictures) and enjoy!

http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=59932.msg678404#msg678404

I'm sure I'll be asking questions in the build thread and all over this forum soon!

Thanks again!
