2008 Yamaha TW200 Brat Style build

Bike looks nice. Looks like a lot of fun.

So your running this with no rear suspension? How's that ride? I had a KZ750 with short shocks and basically a flat seat and it sucked on every bump I hit.

Thanks crackerman, it really is allot of fun!

As for the rear suspension, I couldn't agree with you more! I looks great with this set up but I'm forced to pay way too much attention to the pavement looking out for bumps and pot holes. With that said one of the major changes I'm making at the moment besides for a new tank is adding a rear shock. I'm thinking about powder coating the sock rear spring black, taking some measurements, and cutting it down. There aren't really any options out there for the TW as far as aftermarket shocks are concerned...but I'm definitely gonna figure something out!

Here's my harley's tank:

Please post photos as i'd love to see how you mount it and how it looks.

I love the colors on your tank. I really like the contrasting orange color of the lettering with the black outline over the gun metal. Just to be clear, that picture of the Harley tank I posted was only a reference for the metal flake gold color I'm thinking of going for. The actual tank I'm mounting is a stock XS650 tank like so:

And I've now been leaning towards painting the tank a metal flake sea foam color with white grips. Here's a reference for the new color I'm considering:

I'm glad to see you made it over here man! What about a cl175 tank it's what I'm running on my current build, it would be a great size and easy to make mounts for on your frame. If you're feeling fancy I just got a grieves oven and am playing with carbon if you want to make something wicked!

Haha! Oh man don't tempt me like that! If I didn't just purchase this XS tank I'd be all over one of those ideas! You do some fine work!

Thanks man. That will look cool on there. My buddy has a few xs650's and one with a cool glass dirt track tank that would look cool on your bike too. I'll snag a pic. for inspiration.

Sounds cool! 8)

Well I made a little bit of progress on the bike and settled on a color. I decided to stay away from the sea foam color with white grips combo only because I feel as if those colors would look better with chrome and polished parts and the majority of the bike is black. So I decided to go with my original plan and paint the tank a golden bronze metal flake and purchased a bunch of different flakes in the gold, bronze, and even orange range and I plan on shooting them over a base coat like so:

I also plan on powder coating the rear hub, fork braces, risers, and maybe even the frame black...

Seafoam green is my absolute favorite color. Period. I painted my guitar that color, I painted my bedroom that color, and I'm looking for an old Chevy truck to pain that color too, lol. I've been thinking lately about how a bratstyle/caferacer/bobber bike could look with that color. IMO it doesn't match well with black.

Check out this bratstyle in kawasaki green if you haven't yet: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=36443.45

Seafoam green really is a nice color man...I dig it too...

And yeah, I've come across that bike before, I like it allot! I love the contrasting white grips!

Also, I was originally gonna install drag bars but I can't stop toying with the idea of slapping on some sort of window/attack bars...I came across this W650 Brat and I REALLY like the look:

looks like a blast to ride! excited to see the new tank, the last one was cool, but definitely too small looking.

Heck yeah man, it really is allot fun! The new tank will really change the lines and add a bit more beefiness to the bike...I hope...stay tuned!

HI!!! Cool build!

Here is mine - V2.0

Please let me know if you get the CB tank to work - I thought of those too since the nitroheads dont cover enough of the frame in my humble opinion. Please make my day and let me know how that turns out!

On the rear suspension - you can use a VSTAR 1100 shock if you are light - i tried that in the pics you see here. I set it to the "hardest" setting so the seat pan wouldn't rub on big bumps. I ended up switching back to stock thought since it felt a little squirly to me in corners and with a passenger its a total no-go. I have it still if you wanna try it - let me know!

Thanks for the posts!

So after all that research and even purchasing more parts my motorcycle A.D.D. has kicked in and I've decided to put my TW up for sale to help fund a new project. ALL the stock parts will be included with the sale. I will put up a proper post for the bike in the classified section very soon but for those that are interested and would like to get the ball rolling feel free to email me at my personal email: LastDitchChoppers@gmail.com

Thanks
