2011 Kawasaki W800

I like them, but I want to know if they will be sold in the US.. havent seen any word on it..

They seem busy showing off the ninja and their cruisers on the kawasaki website. I've been looking for a w650 but a 800 would be twice as nice.

a 2011 with drum brakes in back... come on!

I know but they are going for the vintage look so it makes sense. Drum rear stops fine anyway, on a bike like this that is style over performance. It's not a sport bike by any means.

I doubt it will come to Canada this year but if it makes the USA you can go get one in the states and Pay the RIV and bring it into Canada for about 300 bucks in fees. All Kawasaki, Yamaha and Hondas are Admissable from the USA if you cna get a dealer to sell you one that is. I know Honda dealers won't even talk to you on new bikes in the USA.

Wow-somebody actually paid attention to the way the motor looks! My biggest complaint with 'retro' and modern bikes are the hideous looking lumps. That's a looker!

That bevel cam drive shaft does look pretty cool. But I'd get real tired real quick with people pointing to it and asking what it is. Still bitterly disappointed the kickstarter is gone.

yep. no kickstart. so its not a vintage bike. :D

I like this, this is a bike that I'd probably consider buying in say five years time when I could afford one haha. I suppose what they've done is updated the W650/400 platform to meet emissions standards by adding EFI, and while they were at it reworked the bike a bit so its a player against the Triumph Bonneville.

On disc/drum rear brakes, I don't mind either way. Both will lock up under braking (ie too powerful) and one needs caustic hydraulic fluid & is exposed to the elements. Guess which one I'm glad they gave it ::)

On the kickstarter, don't tell me you'd be out there kicking it if there was a button there that gave reliable starting every time. Leave the kickers for the dirbike crowd and us 'make-everything-go-faster-and-weigh-less' mob.

Expect pricing to be competetive with the Triumph Bonneville, as Kawasaki really are throwing a punch right at Triumph with this one.

Cheers - boingk

At least its got the look...

i give it a few years if not sooner for people to be bobbing, chopping, tracking these along with the competition "triumphs" just like they started doing with the new metric crowd...yamaha's and such
