240z and 300zx

Now that the body is almost painted i need to think about getting the motor ready to fit.
while i have the engine on the engine stand i will replace all the gaskets and seals as well as the cam belt and water pump. and give the engine a general clean up.
I have most things that i need to get the rb20 in and running but one thing i need is a fuel delivery system. I recently purchased a surge tank but i still need the lift pump and main pump. I will probably use a vl turbo for the main pump but i am on sure what pump i will use for the lift pump.

Nice Project! Looking good!

Here's a picture of mine. 1971 240z - 1st Generation. Worked on it off and on for 6 years, finished it last may. 280z Block with 5 speed manual.

Here's my '73. It still needs its cosmetics picked up, but the drivetrain is pretty well sorted out: 350 cubic inch GM small block, 200-4R trans. I'm going to replace the automatic with a 5 speed Tremec because I like shifting. The suspension has been redone with new high-tech bushings and struts but the springs are stock since the GM drivetrain doesn't weigh enough more than the original to warrant stiffening it up. It's a real sleeper, which was my intent- unless one looks inside and sees the Hurst ratchet shifter (soon to be replaced by a Lokar to use as the stick shift parts get accumulated), there's little else to reveal what it is- until I start the motor. It's a daily driver in the summer, and great fun to pester Boxsters with.

Oh yeah, the SBC into a Z-car used to be a decent little swap, more frequent back in the days just after the Vega's had all rotted away but before the S-10 was born.
NICE!

All the body has been painted at last ;D Now i just have to wait for all the trims and garnishes tyo be painted and there will be no stopping me putting it all back togeather

I fit some old second hand rubber to my rims for now so i can fit up my willwood brakes. unfortunatly they would not fit in side the 14 inch rims and i still need to be able to roll it around. I will put some new tyres on when it gets closer to putting it on the road. These tyres are 235/45x17 all around but i will more than likely run 245 when the time comes.

Oh my, I am so jealous. A 240z is my absolute dream car. Love the colour you went with, awesome build.

this week i have been working on getting the brakes fitted up. the fronts were easy as they came in a kit. but the rears are from an r31 skyline and i had to do some work to make them fit, Next week I will be fitting up the brake lines and hand brake cables and hopefully it will be able to stop when i roll it down my drive way :D I will be rebuilding the rear brakes before the car goes on the road. ;)

Whoot Whoot!
Bet you are glad to get her home where you can spend MORE time on it.
Have you got a pair of these? I always liked the looks of them on Z-cars and XKE types
