-25 paranoia sets in!!

Only my second ever liquid cooled bike, first over a frigid winter. Paranoia sets in as
I consider the possibilities. I just got this bike in early December, flushed the cooling system refilled and ran. Now I weigh the possible scenarios.

A.) Even though I checked the antifreeze for -35, just maybe that's not enough
B.) I have the shop heater set to keep it at +35, but it's electric, what IF the electric
goes out
C.)What IF the Abominable Snowman leaves the shop door open :-[

You are fine! Relax. Let the coolant do its job, as long as you have a 50/50 mix all is well. Even if it gets colder it will be fine. Coolant doesnt freeze solid like water, it jells up. If you try running it when its jelled it will overheat due to lack of coolant flow, but thats it. If it was at -35 its OK to -35.

If you are paranoid, fill it with straight glycol, and in the spring drain it out and refill it with 50/50 mix.

Just leave the thing. Your car is mixed the same way. My dirt bike is mixed the same way. Never a problem with them right? So don't worry about it. I mix everything 50/50 and have never had a problem. Even on the nights it's pushing -40 Celsius ambient temps

Thanks guys, I know it should have been fine, same mix as my car, but I've already drained it :-[ Next year I won't bother. Just makes me feel better as I hibernate today.

Now you get to worry about corrosion in your now unprotected cooling system!

Thanks , I wondered about that, Ok,Ok I'll go and refill it, but I'm not going out
there till it gets above 0!!

Yeah the corrosion is a very real problem. Not sure where you are located but I'm sitting at -29 ambient and should be at 0 by Wednesday hahaha

BTW, straight antifreeze freezes up sooner than a m ix. 70/30 (AF/Water) gives the lowest temp. protection.

Or put a 60watt light bulb under the bike plugged in for the night with a tarp over the bike to hold the heat in. Works for the farmers with thier tractors for years.

Or drain the coolent if it at there it can't freeze
