250 Ninja race bike

RacerX you're definitely contributing! I'm really interested in how the NOS and everything works out, please continue to post.

Got to love that giggle juice, it's a kick in the pants. It looks like you have a good setup and I'm looking forward to some new videos.

After a lot of work and attention to details I got the business end of the nitrous system mocked up. I still have to do a final check and then tighten it all down. YA I can t wait for the video. ;D

Straight out rad!

Darned if I dare ask, what about EFI in place of the carbs? should boost the hp significantly and push the top speed, or does the regulations speak against it?

I will get to that one day . But only for the turbo. The stock carbs and stock efi throttle bodys are 28mm. The CR carbs are 32mm and very easy to tune. I have spent a lot of time on the dyno . Plus I have EGT data logging. I am running full throttle for a mile and trying to keep the exhaust down below 1200 deg F. Another problem is I use leaded fuel. So the O2 sensors would suffer.

Touche, lead and O2 censors aint the best mix. You could run the ECU in open loop mode without the Lambda probe though and 32mm throttle bodies are out there.. I'll shut up now. :)

Please don't I need all the help I can get

I have to have a programmable system. There are a number of them out there. Since I have a specific set of sercumstances. ie one mile wide open I can use a pre written map to deal with fuel and ignition needs.

Next big hurdle is the clutch. Stock slips above 40 hp . I hope what I have will hold a progressive 60 hp. What I need is to adapt a zx6r 6 disc six spring basket with a custom cover to hold 100+ hp but that is going to cost me.

FI will be for the turbo. I will use a single throttle body for that and a small nitrous shot to spool the turbo and cool the mixture. I have to keep the exhaust temp down . I have a shelf full of holed pistons and a jar of burned spark plugs.

Land speed racing is fun. We start where everyone else stops. That is how you push the records. But for me I am in uncharted territory . Not many peoe doing this with a 250 ninja.a Hyabusa would be faster and easy but not as much fun.

Ecotrons will supply you with a 45mm TB and PCI programmable ECU and CDI, should be nice for all intended purposes in open loop mode. Turbo compliant if needed ofcourse.
http://www.ecotrons.com/400cc_to_800cc_Engine_EFI_kit.html Biggest headache is just getting it fit. :)

Etronics looks great. Matt is doing a good job with the 250 ninja system. It is my first choice. microsquirt is another and I have friends at hailtech.

This is a big project and will require a lot of money I don't have . I have Carillo rods already but want to do a stroked billet crank and 6 mm bore to put the engine at 349 cc the clutch stuff and then the FI turbo . Should be good for 100 hp . But I have to go one step at a time. First I need to control 50 hp then move forward.

There has been a change of plans. I had intended to skip the Ohio speed trials in June and July so I could build and test the nitrous system. Then I go to the Bonneville salt flats as crew for a couple teams then I was gong to run the bike with nitrous in September. But I have the chance to go and test the bike under fire in July . So instead of three month to build a system I have three weeks. No more food or sleep. WE are going racing. ;D

This is getting very interesting to read RacerX! I wish I had half of the knowledge and resources required to build crazy output small engines like you are doing. Please keep us posted with info and pics.

It only takes the will. Granny left me a boat load in it. haha no sereously . I started out with a 3500 dollar bike that was my sole means of transportation . I would rent a van strip my bike and ready it to race. I got laid off and was unemployed for two years. I had lots of time and zero money. But still managed to race. Later I worked two jobs 7 days a week to build the bike. it was not pretty but it was fast enough to win points championships and set multiple records

All you need to do is get a rule book and put together something that runs. Bring it to Ohio and do it. Of corse you will then have to sell everything you own. Work in a motorcycle shop and as a laborer for nothing so you get parts wholesale and can get 30 days off work to race and tune. The only danger involved is total addiction. Once you start land speed racing you can never stop.

Sounds great! I'll let the wife know the plans and tell her to put the kids out for hire (6, 4, 2 and 6 months) ;D Oh, and get the 350 running.

Oh they're already big in to helping Dad in the garage, the 3 older ones are all boys. I had to go buy a full set of extra metric and standard end wrenches, cresent wrenchs, screwdrivers and a few other things so that I could use my own tools! When your 4 year old gets pissed because he knows the motorcycle bolts are "MM" wrenches and not the "/" wrenchs you can't fool him anymore.
