35 years sitting and it runs!!

Well I got the new intake boots and mikuni vm 30s on this morning, no throttle cable, and it started and idles awesome, 35 years of sitting and it fricking started! I bought a 2 into 1 throttle cable and once again I'm in over my head. So, I'm thinking the two cables need to be cut and soldered and they go in the very top of the carb after I take the top cap off the carb??? The single side of the cable needs to go into whichever throttle cable pulls the cable when I twist the throttle?? This is all alien to me, any tips or tricks, mistakes to avoid? Thanks for any help.

After sitting so long, is there anything I need to check for to make sure everything is ok? Thanks for any help guys, quite the learning process going on.

Change that oil and filter and throw some filters in the fuel lines.

Well the first try didn't work. :'( I got the carb ends too fricking short. I got another one on order and hopefully the second time will be the charm. Dying to get some bugs in the teeth something fierce(idling down the driveway without the cable just doesn't do it)!

if you pm me i can just replace the cable casing where you shortened it to much and fix it for you
