3DogNate's XS650 Bobber - DONE!!!

Re: 3DogNate's XS650 Bobber - Mocking 'er up now...

Carb is plumbed and ready for fuel.

I have the thing darned near wired up now... Just need to mount and wire the starter solenoid and wire the tail light... I may make an attempt to start it tonight if I get a chance to knock that part out.

Top motor mount? Yay or nay?

Damn thing started first try....

Need to swap running and brake light wires... (License plate light lights up with the brake :))

Something is up with the kicker... it goes limp when the bike is running and isn't quite right when not. I guess the return spring is slipped or something... need to drain the oil and open the right side and see what is up there tomorrow. It ran good though, throttle seems smooth through the throttle range and it idles just fine, so that's promising. I'll be driving this sucker Saturday or tomorrow if I decide to take the day off.

One hell of a ride, so far.

Re: 3DogNate's XS650 Bobber - Mocking 'er up now...

Okay... I finished up my immediate punch list and was able to take it out on the road. It is running a little lean, I added a little bit of fuel to the mix I started with... Seems passable through the throttle range until I can get a pro on the carbs. Handled rather well and pulled stronger than I expected.

So we can call her DONE!

But there is no fork brace.

Looks awesome otherwise.

Re: 3DogNate's XS650 Bobber - DONE!!!!

A few more pictures for the completed bike.

I added a bar end mirror and got rid of the Martian antennae mirrors I had on there temporarily. I like the ape look a little better like this.

Yeah... with my tank mounted with a shallow tunnel a lot of bars want to hit my tank... I have this handle bar on order:

I've got a Hugh's Hand Built fork brace on the way along with 2" lowering spacers and fresh fork seals.. If I like the look of the new lower bars I'll consider rebuilding the forks a little lower. I'm already looking at having to bend the kickstand, it works but the bike is pretty upright when at rest. So while it's a complete build... I'm not exactly "done".... :)

Well it's done as she is getting. I sorted out the carbs and she's running and riding fantastic. I'm going to need new master cylinder and clutch perch if I switch to the other bars... So that'll take me a couple of weeks to sort out if I decide... I've got a couple of hundred miles on her now and it's pretty comfortable as is. She's the featured bike on T.c. Brothers website right now too... Http://www.tcbroschoppers.com
