550/750 carbs,does this really work?

So, a few weeks ago I picked up a POS chopper, with a "good" 550 motor. The guy told me it had 750 carbs on it. So I just pulled the carbs off and this (pics) is what was on the bike. Any ideas as to is this a good idea or not, he told me he was riding the thing a year ago, but the last registration was 2010.

Good move. That was teh hot ticket on hot CB500s back in the day. I don't think the vent tubes should be cross connected like that though.

Cb750 carbs are larger than 500 carbs and are better suited to a big bore 500. 550 is basically an oversized 500, so they will probably be fine.
