5aH battery - 78 KZ650B - No Starter?

Hi all,

I was hoping to get your thoughts/ approval on whether a 5aH gel battery will be enough capacity for a 78 KZ650B running kick start only and just the basic lights. (signals, headlight, tail light etc. No gauge lights or extras, and 4 ohm coils.

I would probably add a switch to the headlight so I can turn if off for starting...

Any thoughts, comments, ideas would be appreciated.

Yes, but I would suggest killing all lights for startup.

5ah SHOULD be fine. Any reason you can't up that a bit. 7ah would be better.

No reason at all actually... I'm planning to use a sealed gel battery and was trying to keep the size down. I'll just need to fab a slightly larger pan to accomodate the larger battery. No problem.

I guess the other option is to use a fancy pants Li battery...

5ah SHOULD be fine. Any reason you can't up that a bit. 7ah would be better.

I think 7 would be the minimum as you will cook a 5aH battery pretty quickly.
