I didn't realize it was a chain drive till I pulled the cover off, figured it was gear drive too. And thanks for the compliment on the almost finished engine. I got some of the covers back and will post some pics when I get them mounted.mydlyfkryzis said:I never realized the older Honda's had a chain primary drive.
I was staring at the tensioner, saying, "what is that?" then realized it isn't gear like the later ones.
It is a pretty engine.
Pat, I do not have the rest of the bike with me at this time. I may be able to still get a measurement for you, but it may take me alittle time.pacomotorstuff said:Hi Spoonz,
Love the resto work on your mate's engine - looks better than new!
I'll put this question in the wheels and brakes section of the site but wondered if you're near enough to the rest of the bike to measure the front brake drum diameter for me; I posted this question on another site awhile back but no response yet...
Thanks,
Pat
The paint is not correct for a true resto. It's cast aluminum paint and not the grey that it should be. The case covers have been polished so the paint being off isn't really a big deal. The bike is not going to a museum, it's going to be riden. So I guess it's more of a resto/mod.teazer said:That's looking good. Only tiny detail that isn't 100% original is the starter. They were silver. If it's not a retso, that doesn't matter.
Awesome motors - well at least the CB versions are. A classic design.
It's right side drive too.mydlyfkryzis said:Another little thing that had me wondering, I thought the picture was mirrored/reversed. the clutch is also on the opposite site as well as the counter shaft....
Lot's of little differences
