I got the ol girl going, she runs real strong and a little tuning is all she needs...
Except the PO goofed the kick shaft and I want to fix it right. Anyone have any pointers on replacing? Anyone have parts laying around?
 
those are such cool machines. I worked at a vintage bike shop for a couple years and we had a very nice, very clean Yamaha Big Bear which is very similar. Motorcycles- wish I could buy them all.
 
I got the kick shaft sorted out best I can till I find a replacement. As I am tuning on the carbs I noticed someone has done a number on the pilot jet locotions on the carb body. I am thinking about swapping to vm24's. Anyone no where I can get quality boots to accomplish this.
 
I would try to keep it stock if at all possible. I think these are worth more stock than if you start monkeying with it. Should be able to find carb parts somewhere, try that first, as bikes are easiest to tune if they're set to stock specifications with OEM parts. If you start swapping carbs and boots it may be difficult to get it to run properly.
