My yamaha XT500 runs on a silly little 6 volt battery.
I was wondering if i can still buy blinkers and tail lights like everyone else?? Or am i confined to looking for obscure 6volt tail lights on ebay?
I was hoping i could buy something like this and just change the bulbs to something that works with 6volt instead of 12.

I worked in a XT-specialized shop couple years back. XT's regulator and rectifier are very sensitive if dealt with incorrectly. Go for original 6v lamps (AND THE RIGHT WATTAGE!) or go all out for 12v.
Watts in lamps is very important, expeccialy the front and blinkers. Front light uses lots of energy and with the wrong watts in it you could overheat your system. As for the blinkers, the click/clack/click/clack (dont know how its called in u.s.a.) thingy works on a preset current. Watts to high in the blinkers and it'll burn, to low and they will go on forever without blinking. it's because of a bi-metal inside wich works on a specific wattage and volts.
