A 12v bulb will likely be way too dim if any light at all.
You can buy 6v bulbs at any motorcycle shop or even some automotive places. Any motorcycle dealer will have them. I just bought a bunch for my 1966 Honda C95.
Sorry - you were asking about signals - you should be able to just put 6v bulbs in a 12v signal light. Aside from the bulb itself, the rest of the signal light is just copper wire etc. No difference between a 12v and 6v signal except the bulb. So get turn signals that you can buy 6v bulbs for.
