So I,ve been browsing around google images and noticed a few CB cafe builds with some nice little oil pressure gauges off the side of the motor block. Ive been trying to find forums showing if a CB500 k0 model could have one installed as well. The gauge id like to install in particular would be the one by Joker Machine. The link is posted below. Does any one have more info specifically on a 71 CB500 Four install? Even pictures would be great and helpful. Thanks guys.

That particular setup won't work with your CB500. Reason is that the CB750 has an oil passage above the points cover just behind the cylinders on the right side; the CB500 doesn't. On your crankcase, the oil passage is below the points cover. That's not to say it can't be done. The easiest way to install a guage on your engine is to remove the stock pressure sensor that screws into the top of your oil pump. Put a nipple in its place and run an oil line from that to the guage. The guage would then be installed through a hole in the top of the left side cover. Takes more effort to do it than the buy it/bolt it on solution from joker machine but it's worth way more cool points. Not sure you're familiar with the location of the oil pump and sensor so I included a schematic. The sensor that you'd be replacing with the gauge setup is #8. All this hides behind the left side cover just aft of the alternator on the lefthand side of the engine.

Thanks dualitymike. The info you've provided me confirmed my suspicion. It sounds like a lot of work. But none the less its still nice to know that it can be done. At this point in time in my build I'm working on a budget and any unnecessary spending on parts that aren't needed to get the bike rolling on the pavement again just isn't in the agenda at the moment. Maybe once i finish and decide to add a few more cool points with money left over then ill def look more into it. Thanks again!

Take 8 out and retap it with a 1/4 pipe tap a few inch pipe to a bushing to you gauge I drilled a hole in the engine cover drilling the hole is the harest part
