Got my battery today, it's pretty awesome. It only weighs 1lb. I've removed my starter and plugged the hole, and only running the absolute necessities electrically, so this should be plenty of juice. I should have my carb parts tomorrow, almost all the floats were in rough shape, had pinholes / imploded, So I ordered all new sets. Also got my forks seals, chain, and oil pressure gauge.

Didn't get too much done this weekend. Took some time to seal the tank, and putting the new fork seals in wasn't too much fun either. Here's some more picks of the wiring. I still need to make a mount for the gauges and toggle switches I'm using for headlight and kill switch. Decided to get wild on the tachometer but I think it suits the bike. The speedo is a mini with all the dummy lights, the blinker light in the speedo is hooked up as a shift light. Will get some more pics on saturday.

The reg/rec is hidden in the seat compartment, thats where the battery will live too.

I'm digging the color and angles of the pipes!
Where'd you find the battery cell? Have you tried/heard anything about its performance?

Thanks! The battery is from dimecitycycles.com. it's actually a lithium battery like in a cell phone or cordless drill, so it holds its full charge for long periods of time. It's also made in the USA so that's always cool. Comes with some nice closed cell foam with adhesive backing for mounting it up snugly. I got the smallest they make because I'm running kick only and only the bare essentials electrically. I've heard nothing but good things about them but I'll let you know how it works out.

I like your xs650 so much I has to hop on board with this build. Looks awesome

Thanks man! I'll have some updates on this one this weekend. I got it running now but it's not charging so theres that, and I need to re-lace the wheels and put new tires on. It's getting there....

I'm thinking about cutting the back of the seat bump on a radius like this but Im not sure yet. Got the tank all sealed up and holding fluids, gauge mounts are done, and figured out the headlight situation. Just need to clean it up a bit and put some tires on.

Had to break the carbs down to clean them and mocked up my air filters housings. I need to order some uni foam to put in them.

Finished up the gauge mounts and headlight. The old bucket I put a bunch of work into reshaping it to fit the way I wanted, but in the end I hated it. So I decided to do this..

Got a set of Hella Black Magic 500 lamps, and welded up a simple mount for it. I have the left over lamp still in the box and could make another bracket if anyone is interested.

Only a few new things going on, building a new gas tank from scratch is one of them. I couldn't get the gas section of the tank to seal correctly, tried a few times and decided I'd rather build a steel tank that will attach to the frame and sit under the shell of the fiberglass. The oil will remain in the fiberglass as that is working just fine. So im in the process of hammer out a tank and welding it all together.

Cut up some course uni foam, oiled it and mounted in the lynx housings.

The bike is mostly done now. I still need to make a seat pan, put new tires on, and fix the reg/rec wiring. Otherwise its running strong.

I decided to make a steel gas tank that is hidden under the fiberglass shell. I couldn't get the fiberglass gas section to seal correctly, I think there was a little moisture in the tank when I initially sealed it as the sealer didn't adhere to the fiberglass well in some sections. I didn't have much luck with the antigravity battery either, I had the reg/rec hooked up incorrectly while I was syncing the carbs so the voltage dipped below 11 volts, apparently that ruins this type of lithium battery. Now it wont hold a charge for longer than a few minutes even with the reg hooked up correctly. So I have to decide whether to buy another one of those batts to save space and weight or just get the smallest agm battery I can find and modify the seat bump to hold it.

BADASS.

Bike is looking sweet man. One question. Where did you get the air filter housing from?

Those were actually on the bike when I bought it. I just cleaned them up and replaced the foam. They're made by Lynx. I'll look for a model number on them.

I'm thinking about putting a small fairing on, I just mocked this up in photoshop using the airtech AJSM4 Dunstall quarter fairing. Is anyone running one of these? I'd like to see it on a 750 if anyone has a pic.

No likey the fairing, and the white pipes actually steal way from the gold bits. I'd chrome the pipes, because the iridescent bluing might work better with the flake. I talked to this guy, he loves this.
