Hey guys-
The clutch lever on my CL175 is extremely hard to pull due to the spring tension in the mechanism that engages the clutch (not sure of the proper name of it; the part that the cable attaches to). I have checked the cable to make sure that it is not binding and it isn't. I have referenced the owner's manual and the shop manual and have not been able to find much info on how to change the tension. Does anyone have any experience with the CL clutch mechanism or has anyone had this issue?

We have two and they are a one finger pull even with extra plates. Something is wrong with the lifter or the clutch push rod is bent.
Pull the side cover with the cable still attached and see if it becomes easy to lift. It should be a one pinky deal. If not get a new cable or strip and clean the lifter. If that was OK, pull the clutch push rod out and inspect it. It may be bent and binding int the shaft.
If all the above is OK, pull the clutch cover off and inspect the clutch. Remove the 4 6mm screws progressively and inspect the plates and the drum & basket plus check the springs.
The plates may be stuck together and not lifting or the basket or drum could be grooved and it's possible that a PO fitted much stronger springs.
Work methodically and inspect one thing at a time. Don't pull it all ap\art and then stare at a huge pile of bits on the floor thinking "now what".
Great advice teazer! Definitely not a "pinkie" deal right now- it's presently like using a grip tester each time I shift. Something definitely seems to be binding. Thought maybe I need to add some grease through the grease fitting. I will try taking off the side cover first and see what gives, then go from there. Thanks again.

Solved the issue. The clutch cable was too long (it was a stock cable) for the clubman bars and had to make a tight turn. I ended up shortening the cable by about 6 inches and that seems to have done the trick. I also gave the clutch adjuster a good greasing and so far it seems much better. I was starting to think my left forearm was going to be like Popeye from all that clutching! Thanks for the help guys.
