Are there supposed to be gaskets for the covers for the points and the other side? Just thinking about it and there weren't any when I took the covers off last weekend?

yes. any paper gasket will do.

No gasket for the tach drive housing cover, there's nothing in there that needs to be sealed. But you do need one for the points side to keep the dirt away from the points. Points timing has always been a mystery to me and every season I learn something new about set up and adjustment.
