You're building exactly the bike I was planning to with my 350, not sure mine would come out this good though. Beautiful work. Nice to see my thoughts actually in a picture though, looks good :) Guess I'll have to change mine up a bit now.

Keep at it, going to look stunning.

Re: 72 CL350 Build - updated pics and progress 10/17/12

HerrDeacon- thanks for the kudos. Its coming along. I'm hoping to get the rest of the front end together tonight. I'm glad I could put your thoughts in pictures.

As for your comment that you don't think yours would come out that well, I'll call BS! LOL I've seen you MB5! It's awesome!

Any suggestions you would give on my build? Anything you see that I should be concerned about? This is my first build so anything I can get from guys like you would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

I think you absolutely nailed the black/polished color combo. Beautiful bike!

Thanks BarnBurner. The front end will get the same treatment of both polished and painted parts.

I'm digging your build. It's like we're kindred spirits and didn't even know it. Im curious about your exhaust. Does it sound loud? Still haven't decided on mine yet. I'd rather not run baffles or mufflers to keep the look I'm after.

Re: 72 CL350 Build - updated pics and progress 10/17/12

hell yes! you going to keep that seat wrap? i have a ton of black leather if you wanted to re wrap it, i could fire up the steamer, and the staple gun and we could get it done... the polishing work is top notch man! very well done

Joe, I'm not going to keep the seat that way. It's just the smoothing foam for the seat cover. I've got the pattern all done I just need to get with my mom to finish it. She's unfortunatley been battling breast cancer so she's not 100%. We did one but I didn't like it so we are going to do it again. I will let you know if I want any of that leather though! Thanks again for yours and Tim's help. It's actually starting to look like a bike again.

Just read the thread. Stellar!

SeaBee - Thanks for the kind word! It makes me feel good that people are enjoying my work. I've never done a bike to this level before and it's coming out great!

Yeah, it's loud, but in an "aggressive" way, not an "I'm some idiot who chopped of his muffler" way ;D I really liked the look of straight pipes too so I just got some simple tips and run generic 4" inline baffles wrapped in fiberglass muffler wrapping. If I did it again (which I still might), I would probably use slightly longer baffles (6"). Although, I'm half tempted to beer-bribe some muffler shop guy into welding me up a 2-1 exhaust for a more custom look.

I re-read your thread about the exhaust again. You did a great job on the pipes. The magic of Coke! I may just leave them. I am going to wrap them though as I don't want the heat sheild on them like you. Thanks for the info!

Your bike is looking great! Super clean, I love the polished AL and gloss black - classic. Glad you got the wheels figured out.

Me too! Now that I have the rear wheel on and I'm able to spin it, there is no variance up, down or sideways. No wobbles either. I spins nice and free and brake works good. I just have to adjust it after I get the chain on. I'm hoping to do that tonight. I'm also shooting for the clip ons, headlight bracket, speedo and tach.

No suggestions at all...you have it very well in hand. I just went through and read the thread again from the start. Couldn't remember what the bike looked like in the beginning...what a difference. Can't wait to see this done. I'm going to be interested in hearing your reviews of things like tires, gel seat and the Pamco.

Re: 72 CL350 Build - updated pics and progress 10/19/12

I'm curious myself how they are all going to work. Soon enough. I'll get more pics up tonight. I have to put my boat in storage for the winter and today's going to be a great day in Chicagoland. To bad I don't have it done. Today's a day to ride for sure.

Re: 72 CL350 Build - updated pics and progress 10/25/12

Got a little more work done tonight. Got the chain installed along with the clutch cable and cover as well as the shifter linkage. I also installed the headlight brackets, clip ons and controls. I have to order a new speedo cable. The one I have is only 24in and I need one about 6in longer. I also need a new throttle assembly. The one I have doesn't work with the throttle cable I have but I contacted the guys at Dime City and they have what I need. One more order and I should be done. I hope!
