Hi all,

I am new here and thought the best into would be to post up my project.

These are the pics I have so far and they are kinda sporadic. I just didn't stop a lot to take pics although I regret that now.

Here it is when I got it, custom seat sitting atop a customized frame, cow catcher, everything you need to ... uh... catch cows I guess...

Custom frame mods...

Now these custom frame mods not only look great and are functional for those that are under 5ft tall... but they also trapped the engine in the frame... I suppose this is why god created the sawsall

So, I ended up cutting the frame up to get the engine out, tearing the whole bike apart to nothing more than a pile of parts. I found a local guy that had a frame and swing arm that was in great shape so I bought it and I went and got it sand blasted.

got it powder coated for a song, rebuilt and polished up the forks and top clamp... I also scored some progressive shocks on the cheap.

popped the wheels on after ALOT of cleaning

I then tackled the engine, it was running before I got it, the compression and such was great (only had 13K on it). It did however have a leaky headgasket so I replaced that and after hassleing with the timing chain and alot of cleaning and polishing, I got it back together.

As you may notice I am using the stock bars off of my CR250 to move it around etc. I was planning on some clip ons but I do like the feel of these bars, we'll see.

Here are some pics of the engine in... My buddy helped me with this (after consuming too much beer and scotch : ) )

I just got the carbs on last night... not sure if the air cleaner covers will restrict the intake too much, may have to take them off. I like the look though.

will be doing a considerable amount of work this weekend.

Please feel free to coment and give me some ideas. I am really on the fence with the exhaust right now... I kinda want to use a CL exhaust and to some custom fab to it but I may just use the stock headers with some peashooters.

That bike was looking pretty rough when you got it. Glad to see it's in good hands now. Great work so far, keep posting the progress.

BTW, that seat has to win the award for the worst seat ever. ;D

I got some new clamps and installed a set of pro tapers that came off my CR250.

What do you guys think? They feel really nice and I think they look much better than the old MX'ers I had on there.

I know they are not "Cafe" bars but... ya know... use what you got.

Says Who??

I guess I assumed too much but I thought Clubmans or clip ons were a requirement... ;D

I did notice that I have some twist in my forks when I hold the front tire and turn the bars. Do you guys think the front fender will remedy that or is a fork brace needed?

That fender does provide a fair bit of stability to the forks. I have to trim mine down to make it fit, but I would put something in there to compensate for it.
