Also, question for you cb360 guys with rearsets. Does the kickstart lever dig into your leg while riding? Sitting in riding position, that sucker is right in my calf.
I have plenty of clearance for my pegs when kicking it over. Thinking about heating and bending it toward the engine, seems like the only way. I can't foresee it having any negative effect on the mechanics of the kickstart.
Alright. Got the front section of the pipes done. Put everything on hold to bang this out. Long hours this week only giving me a couple hours a night. Still have to weld in the collector and muffler.
Also grind down my ugly welds and test for any leaks. I'm pretty happy with the results so far, considering I'm still learning welding/metalworking. I'll be painting the pipes up to muffler and wrapping em anyways.
I welded in a tab behind the kickstand, going to be hanging from there.
Collector and muffler welded up. Need to pick up some packing to tweak noise level. Wouldn't buy this particular collector again, design made it difficult to weld between the pipes. Could probably just make one next time. Shrugs.
Tested the pipes for leaks before welding together, ghetto style. Found one tiny leak and patched it up.
Thanks guys. Unfortunately I couldn't seal up the weld between the pipes where they meet the collector, so I had to chop her up to close the weld up from the inside.
Routed the rear brake cable. Needs some adjustment, and i need to think of some kind of stop/ spring system to keep the pedal from rotating the opposite way when I'm not on the brake.
Thanks bud. I just recently picked up welding so stuffs still a challenge. Cooled off up here in the northeast. About 65 today. Too bad I'm not ready for paint, best day for it in a while
Welp, started to get back to working on the seat, and my Dremel burned out. Not trying to sand epoxy down by hand today. I'll pick up a replacement tomorrow.
Finally ran out of excuses to make up a front fender. So here we go.
Cut off a rough chunk of foam:
Shaped it out
I use packing tape on top of the foam, keeps the resin from leeching into the pores of the foam. Laid out alternating layers of glass and wet out with resin. Let it tack up for about a half hour, then put on a flowing coat of microballoons to even out the surface.
Dropped frame and stuff off to get blasted...guy calls me back and says he can't fit the frame into his cabinet, but he did the swingarm and no charge. Great. Found another place to blast it for me, actually cheaper.
But...got back to my house with the swingarm and noticed this dent....WTF
I know that wasn't there before, but what j wanna know is how the HELL do you dent something like that??? UGH
The metal is not all that thick on those, drop it right that happens, shouldn't hurt it though as long as it didn't crack the welds on the brake stay mount.
