Try it with your car/truck battery jumpered across to the bike and see if that makes any difference.

I think you said that you swapped over the plug leads complete with their plugs and the dead side stayed the same.

Ok, I'll try it with a car battery today.
And yes, I did do the plug lead swop the yesterday and nothing changed.

Just for giggles, you might try swapping the plugs from one side to the other. It's possible that one is fouled and is grounding out and not sparking under pressure in the cylinder.

Do the plugs too like Teazer suggested. Is the plug on the dead side wet or dry? If it's wet, the ignition is faulty. If it's dry, it's not getting fuel.

Well, I've had a combo of wet and dry to a point of which I can't remember. I believe when I swopped the carbs the rightside(firing side) was firing but somehow still wet. But I believe when carbs are in there normal sides, they're both dry. I think. It's like 12:15am here otherwise I'd run out and fire it up to double check.

UPDATE!
Turns out the answer was simply a spark plug on the bad side. Every time I'd taken the sparks out I'd put them back in the same sides. It would sputter at high revs because it was getting more charge, enough to skip the divide. I think it was dropped at some point, maybe whiling it was being shipped.
SO! IF YOU'RE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, CHECK SPARK PLUGS. SWOP THEM BETWEEN SIDES. At least it looks like that's what I needed.

Thanks guys for all the help. I feel stupid in some ways for how simple the answer was, but I've now got a running bike so I don't care haha

I have to say thank you because i was having the same problem and it turned out my spark plug was firing outside the engine but not inside. I swapped the plugs and EURIKA! Like you i had checked everything. Probably spent 10 hours cleaning carbs and adjusting timing and touching plugs to the motor. Next time im swapping plugs first thing!

Update: My bike isnt running again. The fowled plug i had is apparently being caused by something else.

Update: floats were off. Adjusted and my bike is running again.
