Wide Open Throttle!!!
Hey Guys,

I've recently purchased a 74 Husky 250wr that will work perfectly for my 2 stroke dreams. I am nervous about how I am going to put lights on this thing though. This bike was originally a dirt bike and it wasn't built to run a headlight, tail light or blinkers. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can wire this thing to make it legal? I know the old harley's didn't have a stator and ran everything off the magneto, but I'm not very good a wiring so this is the part of the project that makes me nervous. Any advise or links would be greatly appreciated!!!

Before you get too far into wiring I suggest looking into your states vehicle codes if you haven't already. some states require that the tail light can stay on for 30 minutes without the engine running for the bike to be street legal.

I had a 1980 WR250. The WR (Wide Ratio) series had a headlight and tail light as stock equipment. No battery or brake lights though. It had to have lights to be legal for the ISDT series. Very minimal power for lights in the stock config.

I think this is what the bike looked like new. Anyone have some advise for finding a wiring diagram?

I'm in Arizona. The laws are pretty relaxed here. From the digging I have done, all I need is a headlight a brake light and a horn. :)

check out baja designs. they make complete duel sport light kits and a few of them are husky specific. they also have some wiring pdf's in the tech section of there web sight.
