Reminds me of...me No, I'm sure of it. I hate him
I traded a piece of furniture for this little gem a month Or so ago.

Figured I'd start a build thread what the hell

Plan is to make a little back roads racer out of it. It's already a blast in stock form.
It will be a slow build but it's just for fun, no rush no need to ride it its just a toy unlike my last builds.
There will probably be a fair bit of fab work on this one just because its a toy. Maybe a tank? Certainly a seat and rear sets etc. contemplating a full fairing. Maybe a motor build in the future

Anyone have any 27mm clip ons stashed about?
How about a disk brake caliper (cable operated)

I make them from discarded triple trees ...

You're kidding , right ?

when you get the chance could you get me the whole gamut of dimensions from that front disc ? I think I recognized it as the rear disc I used on the red bike . Just may provide another source for that disc as several members here want me to verify its origin .

Not much available for straight forward mods to the engine however you may want to discuss the evils of the cb750 piston with crazypj.

The single largest improvement in the engine department in simply a properly tuned reverse cone megaphone and a carburettor update . I do know that the one thing they benefit from is running the piston as close to the head as you dare and NOT opening the the intake or exhaust port any more than superficial clean up . It's just too easy to destroy velocity in the name of volume here .

Yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing with the triples, gotta find a 27mm triple first. Got one you wanna send my way? ;)

And as far as the cable brake, I know it sucks, but I don't like the hydraulic setup that's on it now, I may fit a proper one but for the moment id like to just have a workable front brake.

As far as engine mods that will be a ways down the road most likely, and your right there doesn't seem to be much to do to these little guys but at the moment I'm pretty happy with the performance, it's nowhere near fast but something about it just puts a grin on my face.

And I believe it's the stock front disk just with a retrofitted hydraulic caliper?

First problem.
Where the fuck do i find a throttle cable for this stupid thing?

I've searched everywhere i know of and cant seem to find one in the US, I dont want to wait 14 days from the UK (and pay 20 shipping) for a 12 dollar throttle cable.
Any ideas? Anyone know of any interchangeable parts?

Gracias amigo,
They are just too much fun

They actually are. They are by no means fast BUT in the city I kick almost every bikes ass! Also I am the one with the biggest smile all the time ;)

The caliper currently on it is identical to my 400f front caliper, which is identical to cb350 and cb360 and probably many others. Problem is its not a floating mount so it sticks every time you apply the brake.

That's good info. I am going to adapt a disc to my 125 project. I'm still in the research stage at this point. My problem is hub and rotor.

Cb125 up to 78 I believe came with a disk brake. It was just a mechanical disk.

I will go with hydraulic all the way. I plan to find a stock 125 front hub and disc or something similar and adapt a Chinese caliper/master cyl. set up. They are inexpensive and quality looks good.

+1 on the chinese caliper. I'm actually using a lot of chinese parts on my wife's bike, including a Lifan 200 engine. I may be starting to make the brackets to mount those calipers if I get enough interest.

Good to know. Thanks. Let me know on your brackets. I have considered fork tubes from china as well. There calipers may bolt up and they are 27mm as needed for a CB

I hadn't considered a fork swap. My wife was really specific about keeping everything as stock as possible, so it never entered my mind. My first bracket just made it to it's new home, so if it works out well I'll probably be making more. I'll keep you posted.

Damn it.

Is there anything special about this throttle cable? Many cables should be compatible. The throttle tube side can be generic since you will be going to clip-ons. The housing end going into the slide carb cap should be generic too. The adjuster should be in the cap, IIRC. If you are looking for the right length, you can also just make your own with ends from DCC. In fact, I may have a cable for you with the end clipped and extra cable ends so you can custom make one. I can look tonight.
