I received gaskets from CMSNL for the clutch and timing cover, awesome service and quality from the Netherlands. Still waiting on the cables. I ordered a few tools from Dennis Kirk and will be here tomorrow. Putting the clutch in next and cleaning oil filter. I am working on cleaning up the aluminum for some buffing. Nothing currently picture worthy, but when progress is made, I'll get some posted.

Not too much to update. I've been working on cleaning up the clutch and timing cover. Next up is some mild porting on the the intake ports. Dad is working on my cam gear (slotting it), He lost it for a while but its found and is putting it in the mill this week. Should be close to some engine assembly. After tues morning, I'll be off work for a week. Hopefully, good progress to be had...

Stock CB175 intakes flow more air than the engine can use and way more than the carbs flow. Focus on cleaning up the exhaust, get a good valve job (SERDI is best) and pocket port the exhausts.

It doesn't hurt to clean up the intakes but it doesn't do much good either.

Thanks Teazer! We have are own seat and valve grinders, so we'll take care of that part. I will definately look at the exhaust ports and see what i can do.

Super stoked about the brake light switch for the front brake lever

I really don't like orange...except on this and one of my dads old dirt track race cars. I know it's already been said before but this paint scheme is awesome! Looking forward to following the progress.

P.S. the "4X" on the back related to racing of any kind?

Thanks Bryan! As it turns out, the orange color is the same as my Dad's dirt track race car as well! And 4x was his number. He also restored a vintage midget and painted it the same color.

Nice! What kind does he race? My dad has pretty much quit racing at this point. Still drives a car for a friend he was racing open wheel modifieds and I have two cousins who race open wheels and an uncle who races a late model.

If things were like they were when I was a kid and you could put together a "bomber or road hog" out of the junkyard I'd be racing too. But at $10,000-30,000 these guys spend on the engines I'll be sticking to bikes haha.

Anyway sorry to get off topic but thats pretty awesome your dad races dirt track.

I got the new clutch plates in today and started polishing on the cover. I couldn't get the oil filter cap off with an 8mm bolt. I must need to use a harder bolt. Have the rotor off and removing all unnecessary bits. Hopefully top end this week.

Engine Update: I cleaned up the exhaust and intake ports on the head and its ready to go. The clutch is installed, cover polished and installed. I decided to replace the cam chain and ordered it today. I'm going to cut the old one, hook the new one to it and feed it through. This weekend, I'll get the valves installed and consider repainting the handlebars. Didn't get the coverage of gold on them as i did the tank. Won't take too long. Very slow, but tickin' along.

I lapped the valves one more time and installed the valves. The seats, valves, and valve guides were nearly perfect. The head came off a low mileage bike and it shows. More updates to follow...

a great man once said: "I love it when a plan comes together." I see your plan is comming together, can't wait to see the final product.

I took the rotor off and removed the starter sprocket and starter clutch. Looking at the rotor, I decided I could remove some more rotating mass, so i chucked it in the lathe and cut the back side down where the clutch fastened to.
