75 CB360 clutch slipping... still

Been Around the Block
I bought this bike for $200 because the guy thought the gear between the crank and tranny was broken. It turns out the clutch was adjusted wrong and was always dis-engaged. After I cleaned the parts, lubed the cable and adjusted everything, sometimes when i pull the clutch all the way it would pop and the clutch would stay dis-engaged. It still does this sometimes, but only after high RPM pulls between gears. But this isn't my biggest problem.

the clutch slips at high power pulls. I have changed the friction disks and the steel plates. the basket is not worn. But still if I'm in say 3rd gear cruising, and I twist the throttle it will slip. If I'm not hanging with the sport bike guys I'm usually not running it hard enough to slip. Just ripping through traffic isn't a problem.

I would like to fix both problems but the slipping is more annoying than the sticking. I have learned to avoid the sticking more than the slipping.

Any ideas?

have you looked at the clutch itself? the disks mite be glazed...that would cause slipping...idk bout the sticking tho. usually it should do one or the other, but not both

I would re-check adjustment although if it's been slipping check plates as well as they are probably glazed
While your in there fit heavy duty springs from CB350 (Bore-Tech, about $15.00)

if the composite plates are glazed, try rubbing sand paper on them to resurface, and also getting the clutch adjustment is a real PITA, between the cable anchors on the case, and the screw/nut on the case housing it can take a bit.

also make sure that the basket cover plate is making full contact with the assembly. i think there are some manuals and how to's to get you going on a good adjustment.

What kinda of Oil are you using? Make sure your using JASO Certified Engine Oil (Made for Wet Clutch Motorcycles). Regular car motor oils have additives that can cause slippage. I think this might be your problem. My VStar did the same thing when I put car motor oil in it.
