ride it like you stole it
noel has seen the pics and reminded me to post on the site... so here we go.
got bored in the garage on sunday afternoon, so i thought why not try to fit some different bars that i had kickin' around. so i did.

next items on the list are; remove rear fender and mount a different light, make some rear-sets, mount a different (and hopefully less fugly) mirror

DAMN Andrew!!.. Thats hot!!.. LOL...
Arent you glad you didnt sell the bike?

done for a little while....
finally removed the rear fender and fugly tail light last evening over a few pops. and rigged up some new goodies this afternoon.
tail/brake is a flexible led from a local shop. $40 wasn't too bad considering. plus it works surprisingly well.
and the plate bracket.. ha.. hangovers can sometimes lead to clever ideas... hunk of threaded rod that i took the grinder to so i could put the clips to mount the plate. hey, not pretty but it works perfectly and it's out of the way.

thanks lads. appreciate the kind words. it's been a slow process. mostly cuz i'm really frickin' lazy. but once i get an idea about something that must be done, you'll only find me in the garage. so these past couple weekends have been fun with tools and cold beverages.
yeah the light is now kinda neat. not exactly what i wanted for this bike, but the more i've looked at it this evening and this aft, i kinda like it. plus hey, technology can be our friend sometimes huh.
had to drill the period guiliari in three places (2xmounting screws, 1xwire leads), but it's still tidy as the mounting is inside of, and wiring runs up thru, the little storage space at the tail. man i can't believe the glow from this once you hit the brake. really shines off once the sun goes down. but reasonable enough during the day too, as i found out after a decent ride this afternoon.

does that tail light have turn signals? i like the minimal look of it. that blue is a great color. i took steel wool my chrome mirror arm and sprayed it black. helped to make it go away

nope, it's tail/brake only on this one. haven't run signals on it for some time. have given thought to mounting mini bullet lights to the tail of the frame under the seat, but then i'd have to remove my bodge masterpiece plate mount and come up with something else.

dude i need that tail light! where did you get that sucker? do they have a website? i love it! i was just going to run duel lines to LED pods and run a resister on the main power line (running light) so that it was dim then when i hit the brakes it gets the full power... i love the idea you have!

the bars were actually on the norton when i bought it last summer. since i put new flipped tomaselli low-rise on it back then i had these just collecting dust. and a couple wknds ago i looked at em after a couple pops and figured i might actually be able to use them, ugly or not. hey, they were already here right. check the included pic to see how terrible they looked on the other bike. and narrow...my gawd man, they are at least 3" per side more narrow than the stock bars on the honda.

as to the tail/brake... here's a scan of the packing insert.
oh, and it is a total of 16 LEDs in the strip (two rows of eight). all-on, all the time. and they are hella bright when you pound the brake. it would be cool if the sides could be split to use as signals too tho.

awesome! I will track it down... i am going to french that in to my rear fender... clean lines, i am diggin it!

hmmm can anyone help with the make of these bars? they arent just stock norton bars are they. I *wuv* them <3 <3 <3 they'd go great on a tiny little kz200.

definitely not stock bars for anything.

closest thing i can find so far is these clubmans... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/68/4917/ITEM/Bikemaster-Clubman-Handlebar.aspx
BUT, on the bars on mine, you'll notice that the tubes actually extend past the welds. which made it really slick for routing the 'internal' wiring from the left switch block as it tucked it right up close to the headlight bucket.
and narrow. yes, i said it before, but damn, i think i made a lane-splitter outta this bike.
