'75 CB550K1 Gulf - Round...3, the fun stuff

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Dang man, that combo really looks comfortable, looks like the bike is just going to hug you. mmmmmm

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Thanks guys, and yeah Crescent, another layer of glass or at least resin would have done wonders. Hindsight, hindsight.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Yeah Ringo, this has quickly become on of my favorite builds... love the tank and seat, totally unique and flow really well. I wasn't sure where you were going with them at first, but they really turned out great.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Just caught myself up on this whole thread, awesome work, I am loving the lines.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

This is the best seat/tank combo ever.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Bravo Ringo. Glad it (eventually) all worked out for ya. Cant wait to see it under some paint.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Thank you fellas. Well I went and picked up the primers and all their various reducers/hardeners. Ordered the paint as well...

Bend me over and TEAR MY ASS UP. $332 all said and done. Despite how nice pro paint will look, I'm half way wondering if Spraymax2k would have been fine for this project. Haha..ha.....ha...ugh.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Looks amazing. I love the body work.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Ha Ha! I went out to Chris's place tonight and saw all of this in person! Looking at it you just want to sit on it--it looks that comfortable. Truly amazing stuff going on there!

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Good Job Dude! You have all the bragging rights.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

haha Kevlar sucks huh? It is my least favorite to work with but now you know. I would stick with the glass next time. It looks amazing though great work.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Looking great, I definitely want to see how this finishes out.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Thanks guys, paint is coming soon. However, the guy who ordered my paint called me this morning and said the place that mixes it burnt down yesterday! So I went in today and looked at some chips and picked out a couple colors that they could mix in house. Interestingly enough, the color codes I originally gave him didn't look much at all like the colors I was going for, so I chose some better matches. Stay tuned.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

I was thinking how sick it would look if it was just Kevlar sanded and cleared, or my favorite CARBON FIBER!

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Did you get it ready to primer like you had hoped?

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

very outside the box.. im digging it. cant wait to see how this comes out.

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

but if you reply, we know you aren't working on it...think about it!

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - go to hell, Kevlar. you rat bastard.

Haha, no not quite there. I actually ran into an issue with the seat. When I go to trim it down, I'll lose one of three points on each side where it's supported. Hard to explain, I know...but I did some more kevlar bracing on the underside to make up for it. So tomorrow, I will have everything ready for primer. ::)

Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf

Giggity.
