Thanks guys. RO, the pinstriping will be a dark blue. Of all the Gulf schemes I've scoured the net for, I prefer the ones that go with the blue, opposed to the black. I have no idea which is true to the original...I've seen race cars done in both. ???

Yeah i decided to look it up for you whether it was black or dark blue but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a specific color pin stripe. looking at all the vintage pictures with color and modern gulf racing ( or more modern) it just seems to be up to who ever painted the car rather than some rhyme or reason. But i like that darker tint of blue much better than the black. I think it keeps more in theme with the colors that you have.

Are you painting the pinstripe by hand, or using some sort of vinyl?

Justin, I was going to do vinyl for the pinstripe, but Tyler talked me into painting it on. So it'll happen with the rest of the airbrushing this evening.

First off, I fully intended to clear all this stuff tonight, but I just spent the last 8 hours in the shop, and I'm bushed. So sorry fellas, this is all you get.

Anyways, t71ford came over with all his airbrush gear and we went to town. The number logos went smoothly, but the Gulf logo kind of kicked our ass. Louie, you were right, that tiny outer blue ring was a real headache. We eventually decided to axe it, pretty up the white outer ring and replace the blue edge with the blue pinstriping. And I know I said we were going to spray the pinstriping, but it got way late, and it turns out the pinstriping was super thin...about as thick as spraying it would have been. I think it is a little more fitting though, considering it's the same as the rest of the pinstriping. So win-win.

And Tyler, that white blended perfectly after you left!

So all in all, everything you see is airbrush, with the blue pinstriping being the only vinyl. Fantastic work, Tyler!
