750 lowers and 500 tubes

So I'm redoing the front end on my cb500 k0 and I've I've pretty much ruined my lowers. I've heard that 750s have 35mm fork tubes but are slightly longer. My question is this, can I use 500 fork tubes and springs with 750 lowers? My friend has some 750 forks that he would be willing to give to me, which ultimately saves me about $100.

You wont be able to use the 500 fork internals in the 750 lowers. Even the 550 fork inards were different to the 500.

Just use the 750 forks complete. As far as the length goes, just pull them up through the triples to the correct length. Spring rate of the 750 will be different to the stock 500 spring, but this can be adjusted with different length spacers ( shorter ) on top of the spring, and a bit of experimenting with lighter weight fork oil.
