I had a great idea a while back to switch to a more comfortable handle bar...clubmans had to go. in the process I got a new headlight, new bars, got rid of the turnsignals and stock headlight bracket. Along the way I have also attempted to rid the throttle side control as I am getting a new start switch and bypass the kill switch. SO now I can't seem to get power anywhere except the rear brake light in only the acc. key position. the headlamp won't work and I'm not sure exactly what wires went where and have been over the schematic for a week. I'm losing hope.
Point being I was wondering if any of you guys had pictures of the wiring cluster under the tank and at the headlight, in hopes that I can get all this sorted.
basically after I move the ignition switch to on/run nothing lights up. on acc, the brake and gauges will light up. I do not have electric start as the switch was busted when I got it(fugureI should replace with a test switch I guess.) but also if anyone has links to a 76 wiring schematic(my manual is for up to 75) :-[.
I checked all the fuses. I'll check the ignition switch but I doubt thats it. hell even the horn wont work ??? some pics would be great so i can see where the factory wires plug into each other in case I"m missing something
ok. So i got the headlight figured out..it was a switch wiring mistake on the company and myself but I am left here with a couple unconnected wires(I can't seem to find my wire harness from the kill switch) the ones I have no connection to are the brown/blue wire and a green/red. the grn/rd wire has a connection by the headlight and also under the tank. neither one is connected. I have no idea what wires were coming out of the stock throttle control anymore or where they connect now
Keep in mind I have taken off the stock clutch arm and am using a universal shorty lever with no electric connections. my turn/headlights/horn are wired seperately. is the switch in the stock clutch control for the neutral indicator and needed?
I'm also wanting to run my throttle side with only a pust to start switch and no kill(always on run). are any of you guys cleaned up the controls like that?
Hi Folks, I'm back to 'normal'
Unless your colour blind, you can't get a much simple wiring system.
If its Red it should have battery volts at all times (if there's a battery with charge on bike)
If its black (with any tracer) it should be live with ignition on
If its Green it grounds.
Brown is sidelights, blue and white headlights high/low.
It aint rocket science to see what the other colour wires do
ok i"m pretty positive I got everything figured out now. I read the schematic 1k times over again and just for reference can any of you tell what color wires you guys have coming out of your RIGHT/THROTTLE side control for a cb360? should be the same for cb/cl 350-360. I'm positive I fucked up and through out the wires i needed from that side control
Right side has kill switch and headlight-side light-off plus starter button.
Don't remember colours out off hand, think yellow with red tracer, starter button to solenoid? (brown is out to sidelight/taillight)
one goes from right to left as live feed to left switch for high/low beam
I'll have to get wiring diagram out for the others.
throttle side has kill/run and push to start. start has black-black/red-yellow/red...kill has black/white-black. i got those pretty much figured out but the schematic says i'm missing some connections from that side. if you guys have a switch with run kill and start- no lever type for sale let me know...It'd more than likely cure my woes...everything else is fine
Keep in mind I have taken off the stock clutch arm and am using a universal shorty lever with no electric connections. my turn/headlights/horn are wired seperately. is the switch in the stock clutch control for the neutral indicator and needed?
The green/red is the clutch safety switch from the neutral light circuit. If you're not using your elec. start, you won't need it. If you are, you'll need to ground this wire to get your starter to fire. Be aware that you'll now be able to start in gear without clutching :
sweet. thanks guys..I'm gonna give it some more effort and see where it can get me. The elec start never worked(had a broke switch) when i opened it up. fixed it, and I"ll just kick start it to see if it'll even run...if I can't get it I'm gonna take it in and pay for my mistakes
