Ok she cut some beautiful threads in the aluminum. Now just gonna slather her up w about a gallon of anti seize and be riding here in about 20 minutes. FYI the collar was very easy to drill.
considering pulling the other stud out and giving her some anti seize also.
Then do the other pipe when I get back from kentucky.

Now that i am up and running I found she is lean, I can't get her under 14 to 1 at idle w the air/ fuel adjusters!
So, gotta do some more reading after a nap on the couch.
What I found with my bike was that I was getting big air bubbles in my fuel lines - I had to "bleed" them by pulling them off of the petcock a bit and letting the line fill up with dripping gas. Note that this is a bad time to smoke a cigar ;D

I hate bubbles. and I was just talking about that problem on another thread. can't remember which one. Im sorry I didnt think about it for yours. The gas is getting to hot. some gas can begin to boil as low as 90 degrees. My tank is 69 CL350 I had it mounted to low, so I raised it a bit. Also, I used adhesive heat shield on the bottom of my tank and installed thick heavy duty fuel lines w heat sheild on them as well. It really helped, unless I let her idle for 20+ minutes in the garage. adjusting vacuum.
I don't think the bubbles were the issue for me, as it still won't go over 4k with or without bubbles, and I know that the bike/fuel isn't getting too hot while I'm riding, because I've only been riding for a few minutes. I'll have to use some of my spare aluminized furnace tape on the tank when I get the bike running well!
Have you cleaned the tank recently? Sometimes crap will settle down around (or in) the valve and slow the fuel way down on it's way to the line. If there's no inline filter tiny pieces can even collect at/in the carbs.
From extensive reading and working w PJ. On an air cooled twin. Keeping in mind the richness of the fuel is used to help keep the engine cool.
my bike idles smoothest strongest and fastest at 12.5 to 1
Ideal is....
Acceleration during WOT should be 12.5 to 1, with a 107 secondary I have been at 13.5 - 14+ to 1 and she sounds flat and has power loss. I have a 110 in now getting 11.5 to 1.
Cruising at 60mph in 6th should be 13 to 1. Mine is cruising at about 11.5 to 1. If I lean one jet size. She will die on take off and I loose control of A/F mix, and she will be too lean.
the air/ fuel adjusters are fed through the pilots which are fed through the main primaries
So by leaning the main primary will ultimately effect both the pilot and air/fuel at idle.
Which is fine. Since A/F is adjustable for idle. However get her lean enough to run good at 3500 rpm and she will be too lean to feed the pilot and die on take off. Get her lean enough and lose control over A/F adjusters. yet still have a rich area at 2000-2200 between pilot and primary. Since needles aren't adjustable AND sizes aren't readily available. Again, she gets a flood when slides begin to rise between 3500 and 4000 but will recover at about 5000 and be ready to use what she is being fed.
the main secondary is metered by the needle.
Other than stock sizes. pilots, main primaries and needles are impossible to find.
I ordered my kits straight from Japan a couple years ago and now I can not locate them for sale anywhere anymore.
I have a buddy, Stuart making custom jets for me. But, I just sent PJ a package of parts to modify. I am gonna wait for these to come back and report my o2 findings to him. then we will go from there.
And I have drawn up a couple needle designs for Stuart to make for me.
