Hey Everyone, I've been lurking on the forums for a while now (I've had the bike for around 3 years). First time actually posting on here though.
I picked up the bike about half finished, the guy couldn't get it to run right and gave me some parts. I cleaned out the carbs and put a new rectifier on and she rode! Replaced some fuses and other small components here and there as well.
The thing that has bugged me for 3 years (having not ridden it a whole lot) is that he gave it to me with no carb filters and everything I have found is way too small, I've spent almost $100 trying different pod filters on them to no avail.
I know that they're Mikuni tube slide style, I'm assuming the VM28, 30, or 32, but I can't figure out which style they are or get the bike to run well on them, she pops and backfires pretty constantly unless I'm really on the throttle. I do still need to sync the carbs, but no amount of air/fuel adjustment or needle/slide placement has yielded any sort of desirable result at idle/low rpm riding and cruising.
Don't get me wrong, I like riding it hard, but it would be nice to be able to cruise the speed limit without having a constant stutter.
I figured someone on here might be able to throw down some Honda wisdom! Also, I definitely need to measure the carbs and find out what they are, but I don't know what measurements Mikuni is looking at when they define the 28, 30, etc.
I'd love to get the bike in great shape for the rest of this riding season!
Thanks guys!
