76 CB750F Super Sport

After years of dreaming of building a cafe racer I finally got the ball rolling last December when I drove down to Charlotte and picked up this 1976 Honda CB 750F Super Sport. It has a fork, dual front discs, and wheels from a 78 and it has been painted black like a 78. With 27k miles, it's not a low mile bike, but it made for an affordable project. I got started tearing it down right away and quickly found that I was going to make it into a bigger project than I originally intended. After stripping it down to just the engine in the frame I decided to take the extra steps and do it right the first time around.

At this point the engine has been out for awhile and the frame has started to get the modifications needed to give it the look and strength that I want out of it. I have lots of goals for this build, and I hope that when it's finished it will be on the same level as some of the amazing creations from the shops that do this sort of thing every day. I don't plan on leaving a single piece untouched, with everything being cleaned, cut, or modified.

As this project was my start into the motorcycle world, and with it taking longer than I had planned, I decided to pick up a 1977 Yamaha XS400 as a bike to get comfortable on and one that I'll still modify, though maybe not to this extent. :) Please share your thoughts, criticism, and ideas as this thread progresses!

Thanks, guys. I love the Yamaha XS400 that I'm riding as well. This will be a fun project with some power behind it once it's all finished up. I'm considering going with the 836cc kit, but we'll see!
