today i was looking for aluminium in the shed to make the clipons
and guess what i found : ,my sons project scooter clipons
going to try them on for size
if they look right i guess somebody i know has to start looking for new ones
me and my jongest son have been busy today with the joker,
we put the clipons on,shortened the headlight bracketts, put the frontfork in,
put the brakes and discs on ,mounted the rear fork and springs
put the engine in,made some templates for the chainguard, and the cbr 900 rearsets.
put the wheels in ,and tonight i sanded the gas tank with waterproof paper and sprayed a few layers of clearcoat
over it .
here are some fotos
never mind the upside down shockabsorber i was pre occupied with making a foto :
I'm a fan of the "no front fender" look but it's a bitch when you get caught in the rain! I'm not sure what front fender you have on your KZ, but mine was a 2-piece unit. Basically it was a fender rivetted to a "brace". I ground the rivets off removed the fender and used the brace. Works well and the price was right!
i going for the braced look 8)
im not going to ride it in the rain anyway :
found a design that i like on the net somewhere
im going to make that one out of aluminium plate 5mm thick,at least if i can find the aluminium
here is a pic of it
found the aluminium, not the best piece of 90 deg.angle profile so i had to cut
the brace plate out of that
ihad to put all my weight in to bend it ,so im confidend it wil do the job. 8)
here is a picture of the raw material
and afew pics of half finished brace needs black paint
@sbruton
yes i will be keeping the estart as the kickstarter wont clear the brake pedal..... :-[
this will need some thinkng and measuring :
i have got the room to put two smaller batteries in next to each other as they are lower
than the original .
