78 750k with an m unit,just had stator and field coil re wound because, well,they were old and the stator had a burned connection. ive got the feed wire on the solenoid and the sense wire on the battery. sonreir told me this was ok. im getting 11.6 @ idle and it goes to 11.8 @ about 2k. I had run the bike when the stator and field coil were not so good and im thinking I ruined the r/r. from what ive searched this seems to be it.
any ideas of what else I can check would be greatly appreciated.

Ruined R/R is pretty unlikely. They're kind of sturdy.
First up, let's verify the wiring.
Three yellow wires from the alternator to the three yellow wires in the R/R (order doesn't matter).
White wire from the R/R to the white wire in the alternator.
Green wire from the alternator gets grounded.
Black wire on the R/R to a black wire in the harness (you don't want this black wire on the battery, it needs to be a switched connection, not always on).
that's the way I did it. I checked out some you tube videos( rick's motorsports not ichiban's lol) I disconnected the r/r but left battery hooked up. green shows exact battery voltage and white shows 11.4.the field coil input should show battery voltage levels also shouldn't it? stator output is dependent on what the field coil is receiving, if the field coil doesn't receive enough voltage it cant help put out what the stator needs?I ran the bike a couple of times before I had the stator and field coil re wound, from what im reading would this be enough to fry it? it was a new unit from one of our vendors here and they claim its grounded inside the casing,no need to run a separate ground. im so glad it was you that took the time to answer thank you so much

Green wire should only read voltage if the R/R is cooked or if the wire is not properly grounded. If you have the length, run the green wire directly to the battery negative terminal to rule out a bad ground.
Voltage on the white will vary depending on how much wattage is being used by your bike versus how much is being generated. 11V is fine if you're measuring with the engine not turning.
I heard the bell after thinking about it. green should see no voltage on the meter, its a ground... thank you.
harness was unplugged by the way, plugged a couple of things back in to double check so as to not have someone else do all the foot work. I did some research and was double checking here to make sure I was correct.
