What's up team! Something's wrong w/ my bike and here's what's goin on. The electric start doesn't work! So I've been kick starting and that's been working fine. So as a troubleshooting measure I took my battery to get tested and it showed 12 volts but was not showing any amps. The guy said that meant the battery was bad and that the cells wouldn't hold a charge. So I bought a brand new battery, installed it and the bike still won't start via electric. I did notice however the lights on my instrument panel got brighter. What else can be the culprit of this problem? The bike was starting up fine electronically before I had the top end of my motor redone. Ever since then, the first few cranks sounded weak and now nothing. When I push the button, the lights dim a bit but no crank. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks all!

The starter relay could be bad or the starter itself lost its ground. Or it could be any number of things. But I would look there first.

I just went through this with my 80hp outboard... starter was wired backwards and while it spun it was spinning in reverse so the gears were staying seated on the started instead of rising to engage the motor... have NO idea if this applies to your problem but it sure drive me crazy trouble shooting that one. Swap was at the battery so everything in the motor was OK... who knew it would run in reverse ;D.

Thought if it was a possibility it MIGHT be the issue if you've done any electrical work lately. The

Do nothing until you are certain all important connections are clean and tight! Don't know how many people I've get going by simply cleaning the battery connections.

Interesting side note - I have buddy with an old coca cola clock and sometimes when the power goes out and then comes back on the clock will run in reverse
