Roland, I was hoping you could show how you mounted the fender? Did you use any existing holes or did you fabricate your own mounts? Also are you using LED lights or are those regular ol' bulbs. The mounts looked to be fabed up for the lights on the rear hoop. Was also checking out your '77 build and liked how you setup the rear fender, which I'd like to do the same on my '78 CB750F. Why didn't you set it up the same way? I think it looks cleaner.
I welded 3 tabs on the inside of the rear hoop. The fender then bolts up to those. All the blinkers are not LED's and yes I installed custom mounts on the front and rear for the blinks.
The 78F is just a different style of bike, she wanted it to look more vintage but not original. I shortened the rear fender but so much that it would lose the vintage look. It matches the style of the rest of the bike real well I think.
OK I just saw your 77 build now too. That one is awesome as well. Gotta love the F's!
It looks like the 77 is the V&H sidewinder exhaust. I have seen those but the one here on your 78 looks like a totally different header?

Progress has been slow but the 78F has been fully taken apart, removable frame mod welded in, new dash mount made, chrome is completely redone (thanks Ogden Chrome!) and frame and other parts are at the powder coater. I should be getting the powder parts back next week then it'll be time to put it all back together!
If anyone is looking for a great chrome shop check out Ogden Chrome in Utah. They will pay for all shipping both ways. Even if once you get the quote you don't want to do the work they will ship it back to you at no charge. The turn around on this order was only 3 weeks and their prices were competitive with the last chrome shop I used.
I have a question. I have 82' cb750F and the frame is pretty similar. I'm still a novice when it comes to bikes but I was wondering. Did you have to cut off the bracket that sticks up in the back along with the long piece that sticks out in the rear? If so does it require a professional and what was it cut with? I'm guessing you bought the hoop that holds the seat pan and welded on afterwards? I was dumb and didn't do any research and ended up buying a universal cafe seat. Thanks!

The universal will work fine but yes you will have to cut off the rear of the frame and the bracket. On my frame I cut it off a few inches behind the shock mounts. You shouldn't need a rear hoop with the universal seat, I have seen people just cut the frame and run the seat like that. You can cut the frame off with a hacksaw, sawzall, or angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. Just mark the frame all the way around so you can make sure you are cutting straight.
