Hi guys,

Just bought a Honda CB 500 with a 550 engine today :) This is my first bike and therefore my first project. My plan is to make it a cafe racer over time, but first thing to do is to get it through inspection. Its running, lights, brakes etc. works fine. I need a new rear tire (and probably new front tire as well) and a new o-ring seal for the fuel petcock. Its leaking bad :(

But the engine sounds strong and is in decent shape! Fires right up.. I don't have pictures at me at the moment, but will post some soon as possible. I already started working on it due to a ugly windshield, grips removed, tank removed and also removed bagage-box-thingy. The bike is spray painted (i think) in some ugly light blue color - looks awful. Doesn't fit the bike at all. It has a 4-in-1 Marshall exhaust in nice shape.

Sounds like a solid bike, just needs some tweaking and a personality. Post up some pics as you progress!

Got some photos of it now..

When i got her home - as you can tell its pretty ugly:

I forgot to take pictures when i removed the tank, handlebars etc.

Just ordered two new Metzeler tires, new o-ring seal for the fuel petcock, new bar-end mirrors, grips and clubman handlebar. Can't wait!

The clubman handlebars didn't work out, so I'm returning it. Instead I have some clip ons in order and a new front brake master cylinder (didn't like the looks of the old one).

Next week I'm hopefully gonna start her up again with new fuel lines, new o-rings, tires etc. and then it should be ready for inspection. After that - the fun begins (modding) :)

I need your help.. I removed the rear wheel today and noticed some slack in the rear wheel/the piece that the sprocket attaches to. Is that normal or is it due to a bad wheel bearing maybe?

UPDATE:

I found this topic and this is the exact same issue I've got: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=84537.0

Does anyone in here have a better/right solution to fix this? I could shim it up i guess..

Here is a picture of that damn bearing retainer. I think i need to heat it up to get it loose..

Someone has def. been at it before and messed up the holes pretty good. The holes that needs to be drilled - i dont really get that. Is that done on my wheel or?
