Cuttin' and Weldin'
Been browsing the forum for a couple months. Decided to throw in my own thread.

What I got is a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650-B. Was in bad shape when I got it but after a couple of months of hard work. I almost got it in riding shape. Just thought you guys would like to see another cafe bike.

No rear fender in the plans. The plate is kinda going to serve as the fender since it will be right above the rear tire. I know that it is not going to do as much good but that's the plan.

I did modify the stock plastic inner fender . Now from the side or the back with the side covers on you can't really tell its there.

nice bike. I wasn't much a fan of the SR tank but haven't seen a lot done with them

gonna watch and see how this one turns out

Well gents here it is. I was going to go and spray the tank, side covers, fender and forks a nice single stage flat black but I decided against it. So out with the can o' spray and now it's ready to ride. I decided to go this route instead of the original plan because I really like the color of the tank and it kinda gives the bike a vintage feel more then a perfect trailer queen feel. Took it out on the side streets today and it is a blast to ride. Really happy with the purchase and glad I stuck with it and saw the potential in it. Hope you guys like it.

I'll shoot some better pics this weekend. Planning a ride with my Pop's and a couple of buds.

Did you use VHT header paint or bbq paint for the exhaust? I'm not sure what kind of temps exhausts see after the header.
Looks great. Enjoy it.

I used the VHT header paint. I tried it for the first time on my turbo 'stang last year and it held up on the down pipe and the headers so it's some pretty good stuff in my opinion. I'm willing to bet BBQ paint would work on the muffler since it doesn't get nearly as hot but I just did the whole thing with VHT. Except, where I wrapped it. It's still nasty not so shiny chrome under there.

It is the the Thermo-Tech 2" graphite color. Or so they call it. It takes roughly 9 to 10 ft per primary if you go from about 1" back from the collar on the head side and as far as possible down to the collector.

Here's some info on the Dime City Cycle's Tail Light as far as wiring it in. I got stumped for a little bit due to them not giving any info on how to wiring. So, hopefully this helps anyone that has the same issue.

Tail Light Side Bike Side

Yellow Wire --------------> Ground
Red Wire --------------> Constant/Switched Power
Black Wire --------------> Brake Light Switch Power

This is for this tail light --------> http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-electronic-lighting-parts-classic-retro-satin-black-taillight-62-21512-sbpc.html
