Coast to Coast
Well finally some progress on the XS. I have another post on it I think but cant find it.

Here she sat for months

Background. Bought for 500 because the PO locked up the tranny. (Stuck between 1st and 2nd gear bc of a botched 2nd gear dog tooth fix)

Plan is to do a chain conversion and modern front end swap.

Took me a few months to find a good donor but I finally have it.

A 90's Buell Thunderbolt.

Stock photo.

I am taking the front forks, fender, 6 piston brake, both Mag wheels, rear swingarm and pull type undermounted shock.

Some machining was neccesary to make the front end work. Had to design some triples with a correct offset to correct trail issues.

Also in the plans is spacers to make the swingarm fit, shock mounts, and of course the chain bolt on conversion.

More to come very soon now that I have my donor.

Well got it into a semi roller...looks like swingarm pivot needs to move back 1.5 inches and down 1.5 inches to give me good clearance both on the shock mount and ground clearance. I designed a piece to do just that hopefully. I end up with about 10 inches of ground clearance. Wheel base is 59 inches as opposed to stock 60 and the trail appears to be around 4.5. See any major problem? The swingarm will not be at quite as severe of an angle as the photo shows. Imagine about 4 inches less between top of wheel and fender mount.

Proposed swingarm pivot bracket.

Man this thing is really fat...I think the beefier front end and tires fits the "excess" stock feel!

Finally got the buell front end on
