80s repli racer for the street here's to you Freddie DONE!!!!

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Reject that thing is bad ass if I didnt say that already. The front rim was $150 paid a little more for the rear, I think thats a steal when you compare them too the top level 500 gp hondas of the day. So nothing huge going on the guy who does my machine work for me is backed up so I am still waiting on the rear shock. I also figured out it will be waaay cheaper to modify a vf1000r swing arm to fit the 500 frame with the rear wheel then modify the wheel to fit the 500 swing arm. So here are the 600 hurricane clipons with the new swithch gear and nissin master cylinder and the swing arm I picked up from my local salvage yard.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

That seems like an awesome price for those wheels. Can't wait to see what you come up with for bodywork.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

very cool, you could make it kinda look like an nr500, they are a similar configuration. the 1979 modle even has a similar shaped frame (except it looks to be round tube)

Cool wheels 8) 8) 8) . That swingarm would be lovely if it was wire wheeled to a brushed finish. Great build ;) ;) ;) ......

I'm not revhead, but I remember him saying it's a cb400f. I do know that it has some extremely sexy Henry Abe wheels - yum yum.

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing this project come along. Everything Bradwsm touches turns to gold.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

That looks to be a 400f for sure. No major updates was able to make the 1000r swing arm fit, just need to work out the left pivot bearing and we are all set. Front master cylinder came in as well. I also trimed and painted the front fender to be a little more nr500 like.
Here are some pics.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

The quest for the ns500 tank has begun! Spent a few hours hamering, cutting, stomping from time to time, not any where close to being finished but the shape is starting to get there. Exhaust tips came in, look a little antena like now but I am going to make some aluminum heat shields that should make them look beter.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Thanks Im trying to keep it moving! With the exhaust I like the 82-83 ns500 how the exhaust isnt realy even noticable, thats kind of what I want.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

So two pipes in the seat and two beneath the swingarm would work fine. The seat pipes would need to just emerge at teh rear tip and be completely hidden by the rear cowl though.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

No the only exhaust is the two under belly I am not going through the complicated proccess of running exhaust under the tail for someting I view as a novelty. The 1985 rs250 tail finaly came in I ordered this thing before I even had the bike! Fit is prety good I only shaved a inch or so off the leading edge and its like it was ment to be!

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Thanks squadracrse, I wish I could say I made it but it is a airtech. You will like this though, so instead of fooling with the metal tank, decided I will us the botom half of the stock tank and make a mold for the top half from a fzr 400 tank cover, so a hybrid metal fiberglass tank, long live the fizzer.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

You're right, I do like that lol.The shape goes really well with the bike, great thinking.
