80s repli racer for the street here's to you Freddie DONE!!!!

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Thanks Mike! SquadraCorse I am not sure what to do about that, I can shorten them or try to find same mm tubes and swap them out (shortening is prob the easiest and sure fire way and I can do it for like $100!) It sucks because they actualy are not that much further out than stock its just that I moved the clipons below the tripple> I have also changed directions a bit and am going to commit one of my biggest pet peeves and do a true replica paint scheme! Lazy and played out, but I am past the point of no return! Have some teazer pics up soon. Also gas tank is almost done.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

is this your job? how do you find the time to make these? looking amazing. as per-usual

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Shortening them would probably be easiest. Would probably have to single point the top cap threads on a lathe? Not sure what it looks like on that rig. It's probably one of those jobs that will get out of hand quick lol.

You going to run the stock gauges?

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Thanks for following along! dcmspikes this just for fun to keep me out of trouble! Squadra I going to use fzr 600 gauges and prob a modified fairing stay. So here is the change in direction, I guess since I am using the body work any way I figured it would be cool, maybe a little played but to late now! so this will be a little tribute to fast freddies #19 1985 rs 250. here iare some teaser.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Thanks Squadra, and might I say your fzr turned out bad ass!!! Its cool to see what tastefull well placed additions can do to a bike, subtlety rules. I love fzrs, here is a pic of my old fzr 400 this is what started all of this customizing stuff for me.

So for the rothmans, not to much new, got the seat pad worked out and trying some numbering, gas tank halves are together and the tank itself is almost done just some small little tweaks here and there, will hopefully have it painted this week.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

I had no idea you build a 400, that thing looks like such a blast ;D The seat flows with the tank so well. What's going on with the fork top caps? Are they pre-load adjusters off of another bike? did you make them? I've been toying with the idea of making them for the 600 but if I could score them off another bike as a direct swap I'd probably go that route.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

ya the 400 I bought back in 2001, then I stored it for 9 yr and pulled it out and stripped her down and made the tail. It was a blast, that motor made you think you were going 1000 mph when it was screaming at 14000 rpms. I miss the little guy! for the preload adjusters, someone fzr.com told me there was an original yamaha race kit for the 400s that came with the preload adjustable caps and some aftermarket companies made them back in the day as well, but thats the way I bought it I just added the billet knobs to them. I dont know how hard they are to find.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street

Hey sorry guys, But I nearly drug this thing to the back yard and shot it!!!!! Had to strip down and reapint the tail twice!!!!! So I had to walk away from it for a bit. Son of a bitch!!! . But alas I got some more work done tank is lined and painted tail is repainted as is front fender, so here is were Its at.

Re: 80s repli racer for the street
