Great job HD, if you need a hand Hil;s is free on fridays !!!!!!

Can;t wait to see the BSA on the move.

Thanks for the offer Jeff, I doubt if I would have her back in time...Also the Wife might have a small issue with it. ;)
But a cup of her tea did look wonderful!

(A lesser man would have put a lude remark in there.)

Built myself a DIY blasting cabinet out of a storage tote ala- $50 mod thread.

Picked up some glass bead media, thew in the degreased valve cover and tried it out. I had to re-address my sealing of the lid with some foam weatherstrip but got it worked out. Here is the results... Lots of "Nooks and Crannies" with all the ribs, but after a few attempts it came out clean.

Cool HD, what are the arm holes made from? A magazine over here recently did something similar. one question was why does the lid not blow off. Have you an air vent built in there somewhere?

Toilet flanges, ... Big Rich used them on his I think. Nice flange to bolt to the tote side and extends inside enough to put the gloves on with a big hose clamp.
There is a vent on the side that is 4" PVC to a 3" rectangle downspout adapter. You can see it laying in here before I installed it. I cut the rectangle hole and put it through from the inside and a little glue around the face. Then a piece of plastic screening and some filter media.
I'll try and get some better pics tonight.

That is pretty cool! Looks like a lot of fun. I thought you already painted up your engine? Just trying out something new?

Cheers for that HD, I dont think we use those flanges over here.

It's what connects the loo (lew?) to the drainage pipe at floor level.

The case, cylinders, and head are painted. The valve cover and side covers I'll polish. Similar to the Zookie I built last winter...

wonder if you could make a paint booth using the same idea
Hmmm... now you got me wondering about something similar but on a grander scale... I think overspray might be a bitch in such a confined space.

I knew you were going to polish it. As soon as I posted, I thought, I bet he'll be polishing it.

Hoosier, if you put a fan and filter on the booth it would suck the overspray away and now I am thinking of something like that for painting all the small bits I need to do on the CX.. Oh and nice work on the cover ;D What setup do you have for the actual blaster?

I cheated... We bought an actual sand blasting cabinet at my old employer to use as a dust filter cleaning station. We installed a simple air blow gun inside to blow off the filters, so I latched onto the blasting gun, pick-up hose and clear tear-off window protectors for building my own someday. ;)
The gloves are long heavy chemical gloves from the Safety-Kleen parts washer service guy that visits every other month. ;D

Wow thats a real result polished to perfection 8) 8) makes me wanna start over again. H man there ace ;)

Thanks guys, 'twas quite a bit of work. Ya know how sometimes the picture looks better than real life? Well these actually look better in person. It was tough to get an camera angle that the flash didn't mess with, almost gives the valve cover a dull look in the center, but it's good in front of you.

Yorkie, I got a long way to go to get to your 350F's level!

Silky, did you get the template today?
