Manged to get some of the outstanding jobs done this weekend. Just waiting on some minor bits and pieces and its ready to rock and roll. Next stop is the local MOT (Road-worthiness test for you lot across the pond!!) station, some bits need to be altered for the ministry guy , but they might fall off after it
Finally off its build stand for the last time.............weather was dry, seems like the first time in 6 months, outside for a bit of a look from a distance. Turned out quite nice.......Can't wait for the salt to go off the roads and take it for a spin....!!!
Well done sir! Lots of very nice and well thought out mechanical bits. Not too sure about the fenders, but a real pretty bike! Very nice documentation too - thanks for sharing - especially the abandoned plans like the rear brake stay. Takes determination to shift gears once you have time and work invested, but the improved results speak for themselves!
Well done mate! Looks brilliant. I'm sure it will ride as good as it looks. Blue or red I think either colour would have done it justice, but the blue does look good. Double thumbs up this from me
So cool Ichris from the colour to all the the sweet little touches you gotta be so chuffed mate , guess the missus must be over the moon too ( just cos its done £££ ) I look forward to that feelin too haha, lets hope for some good English springtime and get some miles on yer rubber ! 8) 8)
All done and road tested, runs smooth and pulls well. Started first click since the starter motor modification. Looking forward to getting some mile in when the weather improves.....
Just a quick update. Managed to get some miles on the bike over the last few weeks. Its runs sweet, even with those big Mikunis gulping at the air. Had to lower the gearing by throwing a bigger sprocket on up front. The bike handles better than I could have hoped. The brakes are nice and progressive......Speed wise it, chooch's along just fine....It also lives up to the forum name
took a few more arty pics of it while I had it out....
Onto the next build for me, been looking around for what to do next??? Might do another of these with some different tweeks, maybe some radial brakes & forks up front, slightly different wheels?? Just love the way it looks and handles....
I just read through this entire build. Thanks for taking the time to document it so well. It really helps out the rest of us messing with this Virago platform. Bravo!!!!!
