HAHAHAHA!!! I love it because I know the pain and hate it just as much.

It's looking super clean though. That's gonna be well worth it when it's done.

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

im wondering if your having trouble going faster than 60

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

Trying not to get discouraged but it's damn hard. I have a few hours today to figure it out and hope to get it resolved.

Not sure what you meant by 60…? Mph?

That's what stumping me it doesn't make any wierd noice and uses all gears, it's possible the pilots are still not tuned right yet

Or your advancer is rusted/frozen solid and does not advance the ignition.

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

Confirmed, battery is shot. 2 months past my 2 year warranty. Great.Lovely.Sonofabitch.

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

Unfortunately, not uncommon with wet-cell batteries. Are you going to replace it with an AGM?

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

What went bad was my AGM BikeMaster battery, upsetting part is that I maybe rode the bike a few times with that battery. Oh well, a Shorai will be a good upgrade from the AGM.

I've read some sketchy reports about the Shorais at the AdvRider forums. Their general recommendations (due to charger difficulties, undersized amp/hours for given size, cost vs longevity, etc.) seems to be good quality AGMs instead of LiFe (and Bikemaster is not considered to be good quality - Deka, its clones or an Odyssey).

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

go with the ballistics, can use a 4 cell for that thing. 80 bucks and it's tiny!!!

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Problem is that I had a battery box made to the dimensions of the AGM battery. I can make it shorter in height if needed.

I'll confirm the specs, isn't that what you are running?

A new digital flasher relay used on cars will work. That's what I am currently using now that all my signals are LED.

I use this guy. A lot of guys on here can vouch for it

I have an 8 cell but they say a 4 cell with do up to 450-500 cc bikes I think. Check the website it'll recommend the right battery

Well I made my own harness. I did the following

Main signal wire from controls
Ignition power
Ground

Are you on the stock harness and controls?

Did you do a dynamic check of your ignition timing with a timing light? It is the easiest way to determine if the advancer is working properly. If not, you can remove the ignition points plate and manually rotate the points cam unit around the center bolt (only goes about a 1/4 turn or so) to see if the weights rotate out. If not, you need to carefully disassemble (read the manual) to free-up and lube. If it does move, give it a good lube since its available then reinstall points plate and set points gap.

Re: 82' KZ440 Brat'Cafe'?: Seat upholstered- ready for spring!

Pretty sure he doesn't have points.
