82' Suzuki GS750 - Thoughts?

Hey guys,

There is a local 1982 Suzuki GS750 for sale here on Craigslist. Has a clean FL title. It needs a LOT of work, which is exactly what I'm looking for. A perfect project bike!

My concern is.. the motor is locked up. Its a small MC shop selling it, and he said that the previous owner dropped it, put it away and never started it again. So it does not start.

Should I even bother with it? I don't want to have to shell out all kinds of money to rebuild the motor. I don't make much money at all, so this is definitely going to be a very budget build.

He wants $250 for it.

So, watcha guys think? Avoid it like the plague, or snatch it up???

Thanks fella's,
Adrian

I think is sounds expensive already if you are on a tight budget, better off spending a little more and getting something that is more of a 'known quantity', preferably running and on the road ;)
A siezed motor is definitely gonna cost you a hone or rebore, and new rings at very best, and gasket set. Could be a case of full rebore, new pistons and rings, new cam chain, small ends, big ends/crank, then valves, guides etc etc. $$$$$$$$$$$ If you want a very long term slow build that will be a bottomless money pit? Dunno mate, I'b be inclined to avoid, alternatively you could make a buck breaking it and flogging the bits on evilbay.

You are very right. I decided to pass on it, and wait out till I find the perfect CB 750 or 550 that I wanted to begin with. This will be my first build, so I want it to be done right from the beginning. :)

Thanks for the help man.
