Very nice! I really like the blue tail/tank/fender combo, and the (now) exposed steering head/engine mount area doesn't look as bad as I thought it might (I'm not a fan of the "peanut tank" look). I also like the custom side number plates.
That took a little imagination. It's pretty hard to find a tank with a wide enough tunnel to fit over the Virago frame, but the Vulcan tank's tunnel is actually a little too wide. In the front, I welded new mounts in the tank tunnel and some "sliders" made from 3/8" chain links that are welded to the frame. In the rear, I welded another mounting tab to the tank, and a tab with a nut was welded to the new subframe mount. The tank is isolated from the frame with large rubber grommets at all three mounting points. I also welded a couple of "filler" plates at the front of the tank to take up some of the gap between tank and frame.
In the end, I got the look I was going for (I like peanut tanks) but with extra fuel capacity. I'd be happier if the whole works (tank and seat pan) was about 2" lower, but that would have taken some major modification to the tank. That's a little out of my league.
