They usually don't leak after you install a new seal, but they often have developed a leak there on these old bikes. Sometimes, you just live with it. <G>
Instead of doing a new school look. I'm reverting to the old. I am not putting a new front end on it....I don't have the right tools to do it at my house right now, for one (I could do it at a friends house eventually but it would take to much time) and secondly I really just came to my senses. I love what some of the members here do to the bikes as far as making them look like a new school cafe but for me, I would rather just get a newer bike that has a naked/cafe look and call it done!
This bike is going to be made into a classic.... picture of my inspiration below. I love this bike. The only thing I will add is some small Brown leather saddle bags. I will be doing a black/silver tank in the same scheme as the picture below with the brown ribbed seat from DCC and the classic brown girps.
as for updates to the bike. I stripped the frame of paint. I wanted to keep it in the raw metal condition but it had too much surface rust! PICS BELOW. I am going to hit it with my wire wheel and see if I can get rid of the rust and clear coat it. If not I will be doing a gunmetal spray to the frame.
The motor is getting a small polishing.... just to get rid of some of the old paint and leakage stains off! I got the gasket kit and piston rings in the mail on friday so I will be doing that on my next free day!

You can usually screw drywall screws into the face of the old seal and pull it out.
Alpha, I haven't replace a seal like this before/ or a seal in general -_- . Obviously my oil is drained at the moment so how would I go about it? I know for a fact that the leak is coming from this seal and need your expert opinion please! I would live with the leak.... but it's causing problems with me gear selector. The oil is lubricating the teeth on the selector and the linkage rod coming from the motor so it is causing horrible slack in my shifting
Anywho! That is where I stand at the moment... I want to get this thing on the road asap!
Not sure what seal you are talking about. Like was said, the main transmission output shaft seal required cracking the cases. It's set into a groove and won't just pull out. The clutch rod seal and the shift shaft seal can be pulled out by screwing into them and pulling them out. NBD.
Here is the seat used on the bike: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB350T-CL350K-CL350-CB-cafe-racer-seat-metal-pan-/180949187333?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2a21697b05
I'm afraid it fits a cl 350 and not a cb 360, though from what I've read the company will work with you to make a seat to your specifications.
Thanks for all your help Alpha! I know the questions sound naive to you.... but we are all here to learn! I now understand your use of drywall screws! Thanks for the pictures
the only reason I was confused is because I didn't realize the seals were in that location. I couldn't even see the seal on my bike because it was too mucked up(and no...I don't let my Seal ride my bike when he is dirty) hahahaha...... funny play on words there!! Anyways.
I will be making a lot of progress soon! My tax return should be hitting the bank account in the first week of February. It's nice having a birthday around that time, too

Just an FYI, your inspiration bike was built by a guy named Woody who posted the build thread here on DTT. Poke around and you should find it.
Hey everyone! I will be doing a weekly update on every sunday until she is done! And I will be asking my various questions as they come....
Here is a new one! I ordered the seals for my shift rod that has been leaking and for the "clutch rod?" seal..... My question; what is this rod(pictured below) I know it's some sort of clutch linkage but I can't find the exact name in the manual. I am probably just being really dimwitted right now, but I have to ask. I am just worried because I removed the the cover and the clutch lever came off fairly easily.... but it's just boggling my mind as to how this works. I pulled on the rod a bit and it seemed to be free and if I pulled any further it would have come out....... forgive my naivety -_-
That's the clutch actuator rod. When you pull the clutch lever, it gets pushed in. This creates space between the clutch plates so that they no longer transmit power from the crankshaft to the transmission shaft. The friction between the clutch plates is what allow this to happen. By removing the pressure on them, the friction drops way down and the plates spin rather than hold steady.
Not sure if that description made total sense... maybe I can find a video or something...
Sonreir, thanks for that description! It made some sense...... kinda It's just hard to understand without actually seeing it with my eyes. As long as it's not hurting anything moving around like it is... I am golden! I'm sure it'll make replacing the seal a lot easier if I just pull it! I'll try using Alpha's technique of using a drywall screw on the shifter seal! Thanks for all the help guys!
So today I go my tax return back! I am in quite the pickle though!
I wanted to dump a good amount of money into this 360! but now I have the opportunity to pick up a 75' "motorcycle" it's a bike that I have wanted for a long time! The price is right at $700 but I am going to try $600 cash. If he doesn't bite. I'll walk away. I want to be able to spend some money on non bike items I will post pictures if I get it! I just don't want any other members here to jump on the deal before me >
What would you guys do? I really want to start building a collection..... so I might just go for it! I wanted to buy more part's for my 360 i.e. Seat, Headlight, cables, bars, etc. But I think having two bikes is better in the long run :} I will probably keep the 360 as an ongoing project, get parts when I can and scoop the other bike to commute "IN STYLE 8)"
I have been in the same pickle many a times....Now I have 7 bikes I figure since theyre so cheap during the winter I may as well stock up....Then I end up with many un finished projects and I use the money I should have spent on a build on more bikes then have no money to get stuff done....Then every so often I find incredible deals last year A guy was selling a warehouse full of RD parts everything needed to build up plenty of bikes for $5,000 (the price of one nice RD)....Man I wished I had that money ....But next time I have the money I'll probably wait for a deal like that to happen again instead of buying projects....anyways my advice to you now is get more bikes especially if it's the one you want for $600...there will always be more deals coming your way, and if you have a job you can at least order some parts every month for either one

You have a good point sir! I figured since it's my tax return/ My birthday I should treat myself! I will acquire parts for the 360 over time. As long as I know I have it, I can rest easy! I want a collection one day.... so why not start now
I will keep the cb125 stock for now! It runs and has a title so I am good to go :]
I'll post pics soon! I am going to get it right now! he is firm on $700.... I wont break his balls too much!
Bought it! Runs Great! Has been sitting for 2 years!!!! no rust in the tank, looks original. 6,400 miles. Two minor problems. Front fork is missing a boot, and the front disk brake is janky. Has the weird cable system so it's locked up. Other than that she's alive! oooo... and the battery is in almost out of life. Easy fix.
Plus side
- seat is new. not sure of the make. You can see in the picture.
- everything is in working order! Starts right up.
- Has clear title
- The guy is delivering to my house tomorrow morning.
- New tires
- No rust!
